BASIC SCRIPTURES: LUKE 8: 47-56;
47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
MATTHEW 14:30 – 31
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Luke 8:47-56 (NIV): Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”
Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother. Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”
They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.

Daily Verse Summary
Matthew 14:30-31 (NIV): But when [Peter] saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
These scriptures depict two powerful instances related to faith and miracles. In Luke 8, we witness the healing of the woman with the issue of blood and the resurrection of Jairus’ daughter by Jesus. The woman, through her faith, was healed when she touched Jesus’ cloak, and Jairus’ daughter was raised from the dead by Jesus’ command.
In Matthew 14, we see Peter’s attempt to walk on water towards Jesus. Initially, Peter walks on water, but when he focuses on the storm rather than Jesus, he begins to sink. Jesus rescues him and admonishes him for his momentary doubt.
These passages highlight the significance of faith in Jesus’ miracles. The woman’s belief in Jesus’ power brought about her healing, and Jairus’ daughter was restored to life because of her father’s faith in Jesus’ ability to heal her. Peter’s brief walk on water demonstrates the importance of unwavering faith in Christ, even amid challenging circumstances.
These stories teach us about the power of faith in Jesus’ ability to bring healing, restoration, and miracles. They encourage believers to trust in Christ regardless of circumstances and to keep their focus firmly on Him, knowing that He is capable of the miraculous.
