Welcome to today’s devotion! May the Holy Spirit minister to you as you commune with God today. As they embarked on the journey, they got to a place called Osage County. There he saw a rattlesnake in the middle of the road. It was an interesting sight to him because he had been a snake handler before! So he stopped and decided to move the snake out of the way. During the attempt to move the creature, it bit him twice. How did a rattle snake succeed in biting this 57 year-old man twice? Here is how it happened: Because the man had been a snake handler before, he was confident that he would be able to remove the rattler from the road.

He took up the snake which bit his left hand, and then he put it on his right hand and it bit that hand too. After realizing he had been bitten, he told his wife they needed to get to a hospital for medical help. Alas, before they did, the man died. Daily Manna Today 26 September 2018

According to a news report, Barry died from “a combination of the rattlesnake bite and an existing heart condition.” His wife however left a warning for others; “Don’t mess with snakes. If you hear it rattling, you leave it alone.” As you live your life daily, there are many “snakes” out there that you cannot afford to mess with! The same applies to lying, immorality, fraudulent practices, drunkenness, etc. Hear Solomon again concerning drunkenness: he says when you are beholding red wine and fall in love with it, there is an end result- “At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder”(Proverbs 23:32).

Today’s scripture in the Book of Ecclesiastes leaves us with a warning;“He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him” (Eccl. 10:8). NEVER GET USED TO THAT SECRET SIN/ PLEASURE! Indeed no matter how long you play with sin, THERE IS ALWAYS A LAST TIME before it strikes and sends you to an eternity of ANGUISH IN UNQUENCHABLE FIRE!

Leave the rattler alone before it strikes! Run away from sin before you become a victim because though God is a God of MERCY, He is also a CONSUMING FIRE! Don’t miss the ZAMBIA LUSAKA SPECIAL SERVICE THIS SATURDAY 8AM.
