TOPIC: WHEN BODYGUARDS DO NOT GUARD!
BASIC SCRIPTURE: PROVERBS 18: 9-21
On the evening of April 14th 1865, John Wilkes Booth, a famous actor and Confederate sympathizer, assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. The attack came only five days after Confederate General, Robert E. Lee, surrendered his massive army at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, effectively ending the American Civil War, Thomas Sankara was the president of Burkina Faso and was very popular! But did you know that despite his tight and great security, he was lured to his death at a meeting of the ruling National Revolutionary Council. He was shot in the chest at least seven times, according to ballistics experts. I remember my own former president described as the best president Nigeria ever had – General Muritala Mohammed, who was also assassinated in Lagos, Nigeria on February 3rd 1976. President J.F. Kennedy of the USA was also assassinated and what the Holy Ghost is saying to a user of today’s devotional is that YOUR PEACE AND SECURITY is in the hands of JEHOVAH alone! The most secured location, gated houses, army police escorts, etc, cannot secure you! The final security is God! Proverbs 16:33 says: “The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.” Prov. 18:10 is a buster: “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” Yes, THE NAME OF THE LORD is your STRONG TOWER as 2022 ends and beyond! No wonder Psalm 61:3 says: “For Thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.” Even those with BODYGUARDS and BODY ARMOURS cannot be guarded but the name of the LORD will keep you from untimely death or end-of-year evil.
