The report centres on the work of Dr. Ana Szarfman, a senior medical officer at the FDA, who identified dozens of previously hidden adverse event signals using an improved data analysis method.

• Senior officials, including Dr. Peter Marks, expressed concern that her analysis could “feed into anti-vaccination rhetoric.”
• The standard FDA algorithm suffered from “extreme masking” due to the massive volume of COVID-19 vaccine reports, which diluted signals for individual products. Szarfman’s updated method corrected for this distortion.
• Even years later, in 2024, officials privately acknowledged that her method produced “significantly higher” safety signals but chose not to implement changes.

Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the subcommittee, described the situation as “a massive cover-up,” stating that people “paid for that cover-up with their lives and permanent disabilities.”

The same COVID-19 injections were administered to millions of Australians under a rollout that silenced dissenting doctors and downplayed adverse event data.
