Morning Devotional Bible Reading for Today 3rd MAY 2024
BASIC SCRIPTURES: ESTHER 2: 21 – 23 ESTHER 6; 1 – 9
Here are the basic scriptures with encouragement for the day ahead:
Esther 2: 21-23
-
21: During the time Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate, Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, became angry and conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.
-
22: But Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther, who in turn reported it to the king, giving credit to Mordecai.
-
23: And when the report was investigated and found to be true, the two officials were impaled on poles. All this was recorded in the book of the annals in the presence of the king.
Encouragement:
God is always watching over us, even when we are not aware of it. Mordecai’s loyalty and bravery saved the king’s life, and his actions were recorded in the annals of the king’s reign. We may not always receive immediate recognition for our efforts, but God sees everything we do, and our actions can have a significant impact on those around us.

Esther 6: 1-9
-
1: That night the king couldn’t sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him.
-
2: It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.
-
3: The king asked, “What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?” “Nothing has been done for him,” his attendants answered.
-
4: The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the palace to speak to the king about impaling Mordecai on the pole set up for him.
-
5: His attendants answered, “Haman is standing in the court.” “Bring him in,” the king ordered.
-
6: When Haman entered, the king asked him, “What should be done for the man the king delights to honor?” Now Haman thought to himself, “Who is there that the king would rather honor than me?”
-
7: So he answered the king, “For the man the king delights to honor, have them bring a royal robe the king has worn and a horse the king has ridden, one with a royal crest placed on its head.
-
8: Then let the robe and horse be entrusted to one of the king’s most noble princes. Let them robe the man the king delights to honor, and lead him on the horse through the city square, proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!’”
-
9: “Go at once,” the king commanded Haman. “Get the robe and the horse and do just as you have suggested for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Do not neglect anything you have recommended.”
Encouragement:
God can turn the tables on our enemies and use them to promote us instead! Haman’s plan to honor himself was turned into a plan to honor Mordecai, his enemy. Similarly, God can take the evil plans of our enemies and turn them into blessings for us. Keep trusting in God’s goodness and sovereignty, even when things seem darkest.
