TOPIC: A TEACHER CALLED THE PAST

I used to have a Mathematics teacher who did not take nonsense during his classes. On one occasion, I failed to answer a question he asked me concerning a topic he had taught.

That day was the last time I failed to prepare for his classes. In fact, it made me to develop the habit of preparing for other classes and not just exams. A quote says: “The past is your teacher. The present is your opportunity. The future is your reward.” Listen!
There is no one who goes through a certain ordeal or situation and comes out the same way they entered. The past is a teacher, although a very hard and strict teacher. It does not teach theories, it teaches practicals.
The saying that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, attests to the fact that when you go through a certain situation, as long as it did not kill you, you will always be better and WISER for it. There is no need regretting whatever decision of the past that you made. The past is the past, let the future lead.

Anyone who allows the past to make up their future will continue to linger in what could have been when they should be excelling in what is and what is going to be. Oh! If you dwell in the past, you will dwell in what could have been.
As 2023 ends, check your life if you are dwelling in what could have been, when you should be excelling in what is and what is going to be. Hold the word “excelling.” A wise man said the past will be your teacher if you learn from it, but your master if you live in it.
Learn from the mistakes of the past, but do not let it lead you. Those who do not learn from the past call it wicked and cruel. But those who do, call it strict and instructive. Former US President, Jimmy Carter, said: “We must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles.”
