TODAY’S BASIC SCRIPTURE: PSALM 85 for 27th January 2024
BASIC SCRIPTURE: PSALM 85: 8-13
8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.
Today’s Verse
8 I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants— but let them not turn to folly. 9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.
10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. 11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven. 12 The Lord will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest. 13 Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.
These verses from Psalm 85 express themes of listening to God, peace promised to His faithful servants, the proximity of salvation to those who fear Him, and the beautiful harmony of love, faithfulness, righteousness, and peace. The psalm concludes with the assurance that righteousness goes before God, preparing the way for His steps.
