These are the devil’s greatest fear tools. He used these tools against Nehemiah, but he did not prevail. He wrote an open letter. The idea of an open letter is that it is supposed to be seen by everyone in the entire kingdom; not just those who were in Jerusalem at that time. The goal of his letter was clear: DESTROY NEHEMIAH’S REPUTATION. Once his reputation was destroyed, his people would not trust him again; the king who gave him permission to go and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem would recall him and then, the building of the walls would stop. Sanballat and his friends thought that they would be able to finally convince Nehemiah to come down and have that strange meeting with them. Ah! The Lord’s message to a user of today’s devotional is this: AVOID STRANGE MEETINGS AND DO NOT GO TO PLACES THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS NOT LED YOU TO. Refuse to fear because1 John 4:4 is clear about your victory over the devil or fear: “You have overcome them because, GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.” If the devil cannot inject his fear into your heart, he cannot stop you. General Colin Powell, former American Secretary of State, has twelve golden rules of success. One of those rules is this: “NEVER TAKE COUNSEL FROM YOUR FEARS OR NAYSAYERS.” If the devil is desperate enough to stop you, it should be an indicator that you are doing something that is very important.
