PART TWO: COMMENTARY ON THE SCRIPTURES

Introduction: The Power of Encounter Scriptures

Julie Green Ministries releases a collection of scriptures specifically designed for “encounter”—a deliberate engagement with the Word of God that leads to transformation. These are not random verses but carefully selected passages that speak to victory, authority, protection, and identity in Christ.

The format is simple: a list of references. But behind each reference lies a deposit of truth waiting to be unearthed. This commentary will open each scripture, revealing the power contained within.

Victory and Triumph

2 Corinthians 2:14 – “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.”

This verse declares that triumph is not occasional but ALWAYS. God leads us in perpetual victory. We are not just survivors; we are more than conquerors. The imagery is of a Roman triumphal procession—a general returning from battle with spoils and captives. In Christ, we are always on the winning side.

1 Corinthians 15:57 – “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Victory is not achieved; it is received. It is a gift from God through Jesus Christ. The context is resurrection—the ultimate victory over death. If God has conquered death, He can conquer every lesser enemy.

Romans 8:37 – “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Not just conquerors, but MORE than conquerors. The Greek word “hypernikao” means to gain a surpassing victory. We don’t just scrape through; we overwhelm. Not because of our strength, but because of His love.

Deuteronomy 20:4 – “For the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”

This verse was given to Israel as they prepared for battle. The assurance is not that they would not face enemies, but that God would go with them and fight for them. The battle belongs to the Lord.

Overcoming Faith

1 John 5:4 – “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

Faith is the victory that overcomes. Not feelings, not circumstances, not human effort—faith. And this faith is not self-generated; it is the product of being born of God.

John 16:33 – “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Jesus is honest: tribulation is certain. But overcoming is equally certain—because HE has overcome. His victory becomes our victory. His triumph becomes our triumph.

1 Corinthians 10:13 – “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

This verse promises not the absence of temptation but the presence of escape. Every test comes with a way out. God’s faithfulness guarantees that we will never face more than we can handle—with His help.

Authority and Power

Matthew 18:18 – “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

This is a staggering delegation of authority. Heaven backs what we bind and loose on earth—provided we are operating in alignment with God’s will. We are not powerless; we are authorized.

Psalm 108:13 – “Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies.”

Valiant deeds are not done in our own strength. God Himself treads down our enemies. We are simply the instruments through whom He works.

John 10:10 – “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

This verse contrasts the enemy’s purpose (steal, kill, destroy) with Christ’s purpose (abundant life). We are not passive victims of the thief; we are recipients of abundance.

Ephesians 6:10-17 – The full armor of God passage.

This extended passage describes the equipment necessary for spiritual warfare. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer—these are our weapons. We are not defenseless; we are fully armed.

Freedom and Deliverance

Galatians 3:13-14 – “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us… that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus.”

Redemption means being bought back. Christ took our curse so we could receive His blessing. We are not under curse; we are under blessing.

James 4:7 – “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Submission precedes resistance. When we are submitted to God, we have authority to resist the devil. And when we resist, he flees. Not fights. Flees.

1 John 4:4 – “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

The victory is not about our size but about His presence. Greater is He in us than any force in the world. We overcome because of His indwelling.

The Name Above All Names

Philippians 2:9-10 – “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.”

Jesus has a name above every name. Every knee—whether in heaven, earth, or under the earth—must bow. That includes every enemy, every disease, every demon, every circumstance.

Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Jesus delegates His authority to believers. Serpents and scorpions represent the power of the enemy. We have authority to trample them. And the promise: nothing shall hurt us.

Divine Presence and Protection

Joshua 1:5 – “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.”

This promise to Joshua applies to every believer. God’s presence is not conditional; it is guaranteed. He will not leave. He will not forsake.

Exodus 14:14 – “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

At the Red Sea, Israel was told to stand still and watch God fight. Sometimes our greatest battle is simply trusting God to battle for us.

Deuteronomy 3:22 – “You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.”

Fear is forbidden because fighting is God’s responsibility. When we understand who fights for us, fear loses its power.

PART FOUR: PRAYER OF ENCOUNTER

Father, I thank You for Your Word. I thank You that every scripture is inspired by You and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.

I receive the victory that 2 Corinthians 2:14 declares—You always lead me in triumph. I receive the victory that 1 Corinthians 15:57 proclaims—You give me victory through Jesus Christ. I receive the truth that I am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me.

I declare that the Lord fights for me. I will not fear. I will not faint. I will not fail.

I put on the whole armor of God. I stand against the wiles of the devil. I resist, and he flees.

I declare that greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.

At the name of Jesus, every knee bows. Every enemy submits. Every mountain moves.

I receive the abundant life Jesus came to give. I receive the authority He delegated to me. I receive the presence He promised me.

Thank You, Father, for Your Word. It is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
