TOPIC: THE AIR INDIA EXPRESS CRASH: LEARN TO LISTEN, YOU ARE HUMAN

In August 2020, an Air India Express plane crashed. The passenger plane with 190 persons on board crashed at Calicut Airport, in the southern state of Kerala in India. The Boeing 737 plane was repatriating Indians who were stranded by the Corona Virus back home. The plane had arrived the country without hitches from Dubai where it took off from. Unfortunately, it skidded off the runway on landing amidst rainfall and broke into two; killing 21 people. Among the dead were the two pilots. Seventy five passengers were severely injured. A report by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau attributed the crash to pilot error and failure to follow safety guidelines. Whatever the case may be, the fact is that the best of human beings is still prone to errors/ mistakes. Doctors, engineers, etc, in spite of their meticulous training, still make mistakes. Pastors make mistakes! Mistakes are part of our human nature, though we work hard to avoid them! To minimize errors and mistakes in this year 2024, you have to listen and take instructions FROM THE LORD. He makes no mistakes, and He cannot lie!This is why He remains the best instructor and His Word is the best manual to follow. You cannot follow His instructions and crash or end up as a failure. The pilot whose story we have used for today’s devotional could have avoided the crash and needless loss of lives if he had followed certain basic instructions, as the report pointed.In the same way, you can avoid regrets in life by simply following God’s written Word, the Bible.Today’s scripture simply tells us, “My son, attend to My words; incline thine ear to My sayings…For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh” (Verses 20-22). Don’t play the superhero by blocking your ears from hearing instructions this year! Hear the words of Bernard Baruch, “Most of the successful people I‘ve known are the ones who do more listening than talking.” An old proverb says, “No one is as deaf as the man who will not listen.” Daily Manna ODM 15 February 2024
