A court in southern France has increased by a year the jail term of Husamettin Dogan – the only man who challenged his conviction for raping Madam Gisèle Pelicot. Remember that Madam Gisèle Pelicot, the 72-year-old retired grandmother was drugged to unconsciousness by her former husband, Mr. Dominique, for over a decade and raped by dozens of men he recruited on the internet. Wow! Husamettin Dogan, 44, appealed his conviction and had argued that he was innocent, despite graphic video footage shown in court of him penetrating a motionless Gisèle Pelicot. But the court of appeal in Nîmes, France, rejected his argument and extended his original nine-year jail term to 10 years. Wow! It would have been better for him NEVER to have appealed! He was initially convicted of aggravated rape in December 2024, during a trial in which 50 other men were convicted. Instead of his sentence to be lowered or cancelled, IT WAS INCREASED! Ah! The Holy Ghost has a word for you : Many times in life and ministry, we struggle to get out of situations of pain, trials, what we do not feel comfortable with or we just hate the season of delay and WANT TO GET OUT QUICKLY! That was the story of JOSEPH in today’s scripture! Joseph begged the chief cupbearer to remember him and mention him to Pharaoh after he had interpreted his dreams in prison! He hated the PRISON SEASON but THE CUP BREARER (BUTLER) forgot Joseph, leaving him in prison FOR TWO MORE YEARS! Listen again: Each time you want to get out of any TRIAL AHEAD OF GOD’S TIME, YOU WILL GET AN EXTENSION! Ah! God of times/seasons! No wonder Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881), penned: “Through perseverance many people win success out of what seemed destined to be certain failure.” No matter how your race may be in 2026, wait on the LORD!
