The Nature of Immediate Results
Andreas Huebner opens with a profound distinction that challenges our understanding of what “immediate” means in the context of prayer. He writes: “Immediate does not always mean visible. But it always means movement begins.”
This is a crucial revelation. In our instant-gratification culture, we often equate “immediate” with “visible” and “tangible.” We want to see the money in our account, the healing in our body, the open door before our eyes. But Huebner teaches that immediate answers often begin in the invisible realm—the realm of the spirit, the mind, and the heart—before they manifest in the physical world.
Movement begins. This is the key. Something shifts. Something changes. Something starts moving in the right direction. You may not see it yet, but you can sense it. You may not hold it yet, but you know it’s coming.

Prayer 1: Lord, Give Me Wisdom Now

Wisdom is the ability to see life from God’s perspective and respond accordingly. When you lack wisdom, you stumble. You make wrong decisions. You go down dead-end paths.
But Huebner declares: “Clarity changes direction immediately.” The moment wisdom comes, your trajectory shifts. You stop walking toward disaster and start walking toward destiny. You stop investing in what will fail and start investing in what will flourish.

Scripture: Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
David prayed this after his catastrophic failure with Bathsheba. He understood that external restoration required internal renovation. You cannot fix your circumstances until you address your heart.
Huebner notes: “Inner alignment shifts atmosphere quickly.” When your heart is clean, your perspective clears. When your spirit is steadfast, your reactions change. The people around you notice. The atmosphere in your home shifts. Your prayer life ignites.
This prayer produces immediate results because nothing changes your world like a changed heart.
Prayer 3: Increase My Faith
Scripture: Luke 17:5 – “The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!'”
Even those who walked with Jesus daily needed more faith. Faith is not a one-time deposit but a continuous growth. And Huebner declares: “Expectation alters posture instantly.”
When faith increases, your posture changes. You stop slouching in defeat and start standing in victory. You stop shrinking back and start pressing forward. You stop expecting failure and start anticipating breakthrough.
This prayer works immediately because faith is not just belief—it is posture. And posture can change in an instant.
Prayer 4: Deliver Me from Fear
Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Fear is a spirit—an oppressive force that paralyzes, torments, and silences. But Huebner reminds us: “Peace can return in a moment.”
In one moment, Peter was sinking in fear. The next moment, Jesus caught him and peace returned. In one moment, the disciples were terrified in the storm. The next moment, Jesus spoke and calm returned.
When you pray for deliverance from fear, you are not asking for a process—you are asking for an encounter. And in the presence of God, fear cannot stand.
Prayer 5: Open My Eyes to See
Scripture: 2 Kings 6:17 – “And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
Elisha’s servant was terrified because he saw only the natural—the Syrian army surrounding them. But when his eyes were opened, he saw the supernatural—the heavenly host protecting them.
Huebner states: “Perception changes everything.” Your circumstances may not have changed, but your perception of them changes everything. When you see the angels, you stop fearing the army. When you see the supply, you stop stressing over the lack.
This prayer produces immediate results because once you see, you cannot unsee. Once your eyes are opened, fear loses its power.
Prayer 6: Order My Steps
Scripture: Psalm 37:23 – “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.”
Confusion about which way to go is one of the greatest sources of anxiety. Should I take this job? Should I marry this person? Should I move to this city? Should I start this business?
Huebner assures: “Divine direction begins at once.” The moment you pray for ordered steps, God begins to order them. You may not see the whole staircase, but you will see the next step. And the next step is all you need.
This prayer works immediately because direction is not about the whole journey—it’s about the next right move.
Prayer 7: Strengthen Me
Scripture: Isaiah 40:31 – “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
When you are weak, everything feels impossible. The mountain is too high. The battle is too fierce. The journey is too long.
But Huebner declares: “Renewal can start before circumstances change.” You can receive strength in the midst of the storm. You can be empowered while the battle still rages. The circumstances may not have shifted, but your capacity to face them has.
This prayer produces immediate results because strength is not about removing the weight—it’s about enabling you to carry it.
Prayer 8: Forgive Me
Scripture: 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Unconfessed sin creates distance between you and God. It blocks your prayers, dulls your conscience, and steals your joy. But the moment you confess, something shifts.
Huebner writes: “Grace restores relationship immediately.” Not gradually. Not after you prove yourself. Immediately. The moment you say, “Forgive me,” the blood of Jesus cleanses you. The Father welcomes you. The relationship is restored.
This is perhaps the most immediate of all answers to prayer. Confession and forgiveness are simultaneous.
Prayer 9: Search Me and Lead Me
Scripture: Psalm 139:23-24 – “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
This prayer invites God’s examination. It says, “Show me what I cannot see. Reveal what I have hidden. Expose what I have ignored.”
Huebner notes: “Correction prevents future damage.” When God shows you a blind spot, you can address it before it becomes a crisis. When He reveals a hidden sin, you can repent before it destroys you.
This prayer produces immediate results because knowledge is power. Once you know, you can change.
Prayer 10: Let Your Will Be Done
Scripture: Matthew 6:10 – “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
This is the prayer of surrender. It releases your grip on your plans, your preferences, and your timing. It says, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”
Huebner states: “Surrender invites alignment.” When you let go of your will, you align with His. And alignment with God’s will is the safest place in the universe. Nothing can touch you there. Nothing can harm you there.
This prayer works immediately because surrender is a decision, not a process. You can let go in a moment.
Prayer 11: Fill Me with Your Spirit
Scripture: Ephesians 5:18 – “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.”
Being filled with the Spirit is not a one-time event but a continuous experience. We need fresh fillings for fresh challenges.
Huebner declares: “Empowerment begins within.” When the Spirit fills you, you receive power—power to witness, power to withstand, power to overcome. That empowerment may not be visible immediately, but it is real. It changes how you pray, how you speak, and how you face your day.
This prayer produces immediate results because the Spirit does not fill you gradually. He fills you when you ask.
Prayer 12: Teach Me to Trust You
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
Trust is not automatic. It is learned. It is developed through experience, through testing, through walking with God over time.
But Huebner notes: “Trust steadies the heart quickly.” Even as you are learning to trust, the act of asking God to teach you steadies your heart. You are acknowledging that He is trustworthy, that He is faithful, that He will not fail you.
This prayer works immediately because the moment you say, “I trust You,” something in your spirit settles. The anxiety decreases. The peace increases. Trust steadies the heart.
The Summary: Immediate Answers Begin Internally
Huebner concludes with the central thesis: “Immediate answers often begin internally before they appear externally.”
