BASIC SCRIPTURE: THURSDAY, 29TH OCTOBER 2026 — 2 TIMOTHY 1:1-7 (KJV)

  1. Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

  2. To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

  3. I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

  4. Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

  5. When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

  6. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

  7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — THURSDAY, 29TH OCTOBER 2026

Key Verse: 2 Timothy 1:7 — “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Paul’s Greeting to Timothy (Verses 1-2):

Paul writes to Timothy. He calls himself an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God. He is not an apostle by his own choice. He is not an apostle by human appointment. He is not an apostle by popular vote. He is an apostle by the will of God. He is an apostle according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus. And he writes to Timothy. He calls him his dearly beloved son. Timothy was not Paul’s biological son. But he was his spiritual son. Paul had led him to Christ. Paul had discipled him. Paul had mentored him. Paul had loved him. And Paul writes to him with grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

Paul’s Thanksgiving (Verses 3-4):

Paul thanks God for Timothy. He serves God with a pure conscience. He serves God from his forefathers. He serves God with sincerity. He serves God with integrity. And he remembers Timothy in his prayers night and day. Not occasionally. Not casually. Not sporadically. Night and day. Continually. Constantly. Consistently. He prays for Timothy. He intercedes for Timothy. He petitions for Timothy. He longs to see Timothy. He remembers his tears. He desires to be filled with joy. He remembers the unfeigned faith that is in Timothy.

The Unfeigned Faith (Verse 5):

Paul remembers the unfeigned faith that is in Timothy. Unfeigned faith is genuine faith. It is sincere faith. It is real faith. It is authentic faith. It is without hypocrisy. It is without pretense. It is without show. And this faith dwelt first in his grandmother Lois. And in his mother Eunice. And Paul is persuaded that it is in Timothy also. The faith was passed down from generation to generation. From grandmother to mother. From mother to son. From Lois to Eunice. From Eunice to Timothy. The faith was transmitted. The faith was transferred. The faith was inherited. It was a legacy. It was a heritage. It was a gift. And Timothy received it.

Stir Up the Gift of God (Verse 6):

Paul gives Timothy a charge. He puts him in remembrance. He reminds him. He exhorts him. He commands him. Stir up the gift of God. The gift was in Timothy. It was given to him. It was imparted to him. It was bestowed on him. It was given by prophecy. It was given by the laying on of Paul’s hands. It was given by the presbytery. But Timothy needed to stir it up. He needed to fan the flame. He needed to kindle the fire. He needed to activate the gift. He needed to use the gift. He needed to exercise the gift. He needed to develop the gift. The gift was not given to be neglected. It was not given to be buried. It was not given to be ignored. It was given to be used. It was given to be stirred up. It was given to be fanned into flame.

The Spirit of Fear (Verse 7):

Paul gives a powerful statement. God hath not given us the spirit of fear. Fear is not from God. Fear is from the enemy. Fear is a spirit. It is a demonic spirit. It is a tormenting spirit. It is a paralyzing spirit. It is a limiting spirit. It is a destructive spirit. It is a spirit that hinders. It is a spirit that stops. It is a spirit that prevents. It is a spirit that blocks. It is a spirit that defeats. God did not give it. The enemy gives it. The world gives it. The flesh gives it. But God does not give it. God gives something else. He gives power. He gives love. He gives a sound mind.

Power, Love, and a Sound Mind (Verse 7):

God gives power. Power is the ability to do. Power is the strength to act. Power is the authority to speak. Power is the force to move. Power is the energy to work. Power is the might to overcome. Power is the anointing to break yokes. Power is the grace to stand. Power is the enablement to fulfill your calling. God gives love. Love is the motivation. Love is the foundation. Love is the fuel. Love is the reason. Love is the driving force. Love is the heart of ministry. Love is the heart of service. Love is the heart of sacrifice. Love is the heart of God. God gives a sound mind. A sound mind is a disciplined mind. A sound mind is a clear mind. A sound mind is a focused mind. A sound mind is a sober mind. A sound mind is a stable mind. A sound mind is a rational mind. A sound mind is a controlled mind. A sound mind is a balanced mind. God gives a sound mind.

The Lesson for Us:

God has not given you the spirit of fear. Do not live in fear. Do not be paralyzed by fear. Do not be stopped by fear. Do not be defeated by fear. God has given you power. God has given you love. God has given you a sound mind. Walk in power. Walk in love. Walk in a sound mind. Stir up the gift of God that is in you. Do not neglect it. Do not bury it. Do not ignore it. Fan it into flame. Use it. Exercise it. Develop it. And remember the faith that was passed down to you. The faith of your grandmother. The faith of your mother. The faith of your father. The faith of your spiritual fathers. It is in you. And you can pass it on to the next generation. Be like Timothy. Receive the faith. Receive the gift. Receive the mentorship. And then be like Paul. Pass it on. Transfer it. Transmit it. Leave a legacy of faith. Leave a heritage of power, love, and a sound mind.

Question for the Day — Thursday, 29th October 2026:

Are you living in the spirit of fear, or are you walking in power, love, and a sound mind? Are you stirring up the gift of God that is in you? And are you passing down the unfeigned faith to the next generation?
