Welcome to the First Sunday of March – A Day of Consecration, Expectation, and Dedication

PART ONE: A GOSPEL MESSAGE FOR THE FIRST SUNDAY OF MARCH

Theme: “Committing the New Month into God’s Hands”

Scripture Reading: Lamentations 3:22-23 – “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Beloved, we stand at the threshold of a brand new month. March 2026 has arrived, and with it comes 31 days of unexplored territory, 31 opportunities to experience God’s goodness, and 31 chances to walk in His purpose for our lives. This first Sunday of the month is not just another Sunday—it is a divine appointment, a sacred moment when we gather as the body of Christ to consecrate the days ahead into the hands of our faithful Creator.

The book of Lamentations reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning. If that is true for every day, how much more for every month? As we step into March, we do not step alone. The same God who led Israel through the Red Sea, who provided manna in the wilderness, who parted the Jordan River, goes before us into this month. He has already been to every day of March. He has already prepared every blessing, every lesson, every provision, and every victory.

Why We Must Commit the Month to God

Proverbs 16:9 tells us, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” We may have plans for March—goals we want to achieve, dreams we want to pursue, challenges we want to overcome. But unless the Lord directs our steps, our labor is in vain. Committing the month to God is not just a religious ritual; it is an act of dependence, an acknowledgment that without Him we can do nothing.

When we place March in God’s hands, we are saying:
– “Lord, I trust You with my finances this month.”
– “Lord, I trust You with my family this month.”
– “Lord, I trust You with my health this month.”
– “Lord, I trust You with my career this month.”
– “Lord, I trust You with my decisions this month.”

Open Doors in 2026

This is the third month of 2026, and we are still walking in the prophecy of new beginnings, divine opportunities, and open doors. Revelation 3:8 declares: “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.”

As we begin this March, we declare:
– Doors of opportunity shall open that no man can shut.
– Doors of breakthrough shall open in our finances.
– Doors of healing shall open over our bodies.
– Doors of salvation shall open for our loved ones.
– Doors of promotion shall open in our careers.
– Doors of peace shall open in our homes.

A Prayer for the Month

Father, as we step into March 2026, we commit this month into Your hands. We acknowledge that You are the God of time and seasons, the One who holds the calendar in Your hands. We do not know what this month holds, but we know the One who holds this month.

We pray for open doors—doors that no man can shut, doors that lead to our destiny, doors that bring glory to Your name. We pray for divine guidance in every decision, divine provision for every need, divine protection from every evil.

We declare that March shall be a month of testimonies. We declare that we will look back on these 31 days and see Your hand in every detail. We declare that we will end this month stronger, wiser, and closer to You than we began.

In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

PART TWO: BIBLE READINGS FOR THE FIRST SUNDAY OF MARCH

Old Testament Reading

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV)
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Reflection: God is inviting us to leave the past behind and embrace the new thing He is doing in March. He is making roads where there seem to be no paths, and rivers where there has only been dryness.

Psalm Reading

Psalm 118:24-25 (NKJV)
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I pray, O Lord; O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.”

Reflection: Each day of March is made by the Lord. Our response should be rejoicing. And we cry out for His salvation and prosperity throughout this month.

New Testament Reading

Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV)
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Reflection: Like Paul, we must forget the past—both its failures and its successes—and press forward into all that God has for us in March.

Gospel Reading

Matthew 6:33-34 (NKJV)
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Reflection: As we begin March, our priority must be seeking God’s kingdom. When we put Him first, everything we need will be added. And we refuse to worry about the future because we trust the One who holds it.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

2. “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”

Pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more.

O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night;
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

5. “All the Way My Savior Leads Me”
All the way my Savior leads me;
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my guide?
Heavenly peace, divinest comfort,
Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know whate’er befall me,
Jesus doeth all things well.

6. “To God Be the Glory”
To God be the glory, great things He hath done!
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Chorus:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
