WHAT PRAYER ACCOMPLISHES IN THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER AND TERRITORY

Prayer is not optional in the life of a Believer; it is pivotal to our faith walk, pivotal to our becoming victorious, our spiritual maturity, and our growth in stature in the Spirit.
THE FOUNDATION: PERSISTENCE AND PATTERN
In Luke’s account of the widow and the unjust judge, the strength of the widow was not in her plea nor her proposition in prayer. Her strength was in her “continual coming”, which the judge confessed would weary him, and it was this consistency that compelled him to act. This reveals a powerful principle: persistence in prayer commands outcomes.
Prayer was not an occasional activity for the early Church; it was a customary practice. Prayer was incorporated as part of their spiritual community program and daily life.
Jesus Himself, being our pattern and the Leader of all, modeled a lifestyle of prayer. After the heavens opened at the River Jordan, the Father’s voice affirmed Him, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him; one would think Jesus needed not pray again. Yet, the Bible records that He was driven into the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights, to fast and pray.
This teaches us that spiritual affirmation never replaces spiritual discipline.
WHAT PRAYER ACCOMPLISHES IN THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER
- Prayer creates a platform for communion and fellowship with God, deepening the Believer’s relationship with Him.
Prayer is not primarily a transaction; it is intimacy. Before God answers what you ask, He wants connection with who you are. The prayer altar is the meeting place where the heart of man touches the heart of God.
- Prayer provides a platform for the Believer to encounter the refining and transforming power of God.
It is in prayer that the fire of the Holy Spirit burns away the chaff of our flesh. We do not leave prayer the same way we entered. Transformation is not achieved by willpower alone; it is the outcome of exposure to God’s presence.
- Prayer builds the Believer’s capacity to trust God (encounters create convictions).
You cannot trust a God you do not know. Prayer is where knowledge becomes experience, and experience births unshakable conviction. Faith is not just believing God can; faith is knowing God will because you have met Him.
- Prayer is the authorized channel to involve God and call for divine assistance in any person’s life.
God is sovereign, but He has chosen to work through the partnership of human agency. Prayer is the legal permission that invites Heaven’s intervention into earth’s affairs. Without it, even God is limited by His own covenant protocols.
- Prayer helps the Believer to access the voice of God concerning any and all matters of life and destiny.
Destiny is not discovered by intelligence; it is revealed by the Spirit. In prayer, the fog of confusion lifts and the path of purpose becomes clear. The sheep know the voice of the Shepherd because they spend time with Him.
- Prayer is a channel for receiving divine strategies that are consistent with the will of God for every season.
Effort without strategy is wasted labour. Prayer downloads blueprints. It was in prayer that Joshua received the strategy for Jericho. It was in prayer that Paul received direction for the missionary journeys. The wisdom of God is released in the place of communion.
WHAT PRAYER ACCOMPLISHES IN A TERRITORY
- The intercessory dimension of prayer allows for divine intervention in the life of others and in a territory.
Individual prayer changes the individual. Corporate intercession changes geography. When Believers gather in one accord over a city, nation, or community, spiritual atmospheres shift. Principalities are dislodged. Strongholds are pulled down. Territories are reclaimed for the Kingdom.
- Prayer activates the ministry of Angels as part of the overall strategy for enforcing victory in the life of an individual and a territory.
Angels are ministering spirits sent forth to minister to those who shall inherit salvation. They are not activated by our need alone; they are dispatched by our prayers. When the Church prays, Heaven deploys. When Heaven deploys, victory is enforced.
CONCLUSION
Prayer is not a religious ritual. It is the engine of the supernatural life. It is the breath of faith. It is the warfare that enforces the victory already won at Calvary.
The Believer who does not pray is like a soldier with a sword who refuses to draw it from the sheath. The territory that does not have intercessors is like a city without walls.
Let prayer become not your occasional activity but your continual lifestyle. For in prayer, Jesus is revealed. In prayer, the Believer is transformed. In prayer, territories are claimed.
