Sometime in January 2016, ten American sailors who were in two boats, inadvertently sailed into Iranian territory and were held hostage by the Iranians for about two days before they were released. Their release was achieved when an understanding was reached through diplomacy on the side of both America and Iran. The Americans hailed the Iranian authority for what was considered a rare show of diplomatic maturity on the side of the Iranians. The American sailors were said to have drifted into Iranian waters because their boat had problems with their mechanical and navigational systems. At the end of the day, the conclusion was that their navigational system which should have pointed them to where they should sail through safely, broke down and they drifted into a territory that could have cost them their lives. THEY WERE MISLED OR LED ASTRAY BY THE NAVIGATIONAL INSTRUMENTS! Today’s scripture enjoins us in verse 8 thus,” Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” A faulty navigational system led those sailors astray! Sound doctrine, wholesome teaching, a good knowledge of the scriptures, are prerequisites for keeping a child of God in line with Christ. In this INTERNET AGE when we have many doctrines that are not in line with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, it is very easy to drift away to the other side. THERE ARE SO MANY PREACHERS AND WRONG DOCTRINAL TEACHERS ON THE INTERNET! You must attend a Word-based and Bible believing church that teaches the full gospel of Christ. You should sit and learn under a pastor who is sound in the Word of God. YOU MUST ALSO DO YOUR OWN PERSONAL BIBLE STUDY AND DAILY QUIET TIME WITH GOD! The Bible remains the only true “navigational system/instrument” for anyone who wishes to inherit eternal life hereafter. In this year 2025, WATCH WHAT YOU LISTEN TO!
