TOPIC: COURAGE IN DANGER!
I am led to use this story as a REMINDER for someone in today’s devotional! A woman climbed into the local bus and sat on a seat just _ behind the driver. The driver turned to her and said, “Lady, move to the back.’ But she just sat there! “Lady, you know where you belong! You are black! Move to the back now!” the bus driver screamed again! But the woman refused to stand up for a white passenger as was the usual practice! She was tired of the discrimination and prejudice against the blacks in America. Some of the passengers glared at her. Others just walked away in pity. But that day, Ms. Rosa Parks made history, finding in herself the courage to confront the tyranny of prejudice and racism by sitting where she wanted. Her courage to confront a corrupt and wicked system/social disorder was what sparked off great men like Martin Luther King Jnr. into the greatest civil rights movement in American history. Martin Luther King Jnr. died in the process, but today in that great country, the blacks and whites are equal! The genesis was the courage and determination of a single woman. Ah! Catch this: Your courage and determination in the midst of life’s battles and trials will rewrite your history and could make you a great star for your generation. Ask Joshua! His secret was courage! Ask David when he faced the, “mountain” called Goliath. His secret was courage! Dear pastor, be courageous – and only then can you impart courage to the people! Dear child of God, stop weeping! Soon and very soon, your night will be over and joy will come in the morning! Too many people fail to do it because it is not common for people to do the unusual! Be different! Confront difficulties with uncommon perseverance! Should you fail, you will be honoured, but shrink and you will be despised! Yes indeed, like Plates said, “Courage in danger is half the battle.” Hold on! Hold on! Hold on! Hold out!
