Welcome! The story in today’s scripture is one of the most instructive stories in the Bible. It mirrors the depth and origin of Solomon’s wisdom.
Recall that, on assuming the position of his father as king, Solomon had asked God for only one thing. He asked God to give him wisdom to rule His people! So, after his assumption as king over Israel, a case presented itself where Solomon’s wisdom would be put to the test.
Two women approached the king to solve a problem that is seen as one of the most controversial cases in history. These two women were fighting for ownership over a new born baby. Our Manna ODM 7 August 2023 – THE SWORD WAS THE ANSWER!
The other woman had exchanged her dead child with the living child of her roommate; then came the struggle over which of them was the rightful mother of the living child.
But, how on earth could King Solomon know the rightful mother, when he was not married to any of them, neither did he have any intelligence report on the matter? But watch this! Vs.24 & 25 says: “And the king said, ‘Bring me a sword.’
And they brought a sword before the king. And the king said, ‘Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one and half to the other.” Wow! Did you get that? The king said, “BRING ME A SWORD.”
The sword was the answer and solution to the dilemma and confusion they found themselves. Ephesians 6:17 reveals: “…and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” So, ‘THE SWORD’ King Solomon took to divide the living child into two, signified the Word of God.
And when the ‘WORD’ went into action, the real mother of the child was revealed. And what the Holy Ghost is saying to a user of today’s devotional is that, no matter the dilemma, confusion, battle and challenge confronting your life, the answer and solution is in the Word.
