TOPIC: IT WAS A MISTAKE THAT GAVE BIRTH TO THE SMOKE ALARM
It was Mr. Ralph Waldo Emerson who proclaimed: “Bad times have scientific value!” He was saying that times of challenge are seasons for learning! Your past mistake(s) despite your sincere efforts were allowed because there are things you must learn and discover which will enhance your life’s assignment! In fact, opportunity is often the result of accidental discoveries. Do you know that the first smoke alarm was the result of an insignificant mistake/ incident in a laboratory? Duane Pearsall noticed that the smoke from a technician’s cigarette caused the meter device to go bad. Of course, Mr. Pearsall was very angry and blamed the technician for disrupting his experiment! Later that evening when he was alone however, he reasoned that the reaction of the meter to smoke could be turned into a positive society story! Thereafter, after much research, the first American-made smoke detector alarm system was born! Today, it is still saving thousands of lives from fire! Ah! Stop blaming yourself or God! All things work together for good! If you don’t have obstacles, you probably don’t need a miracle! Isaiah 43: 16 says, “Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters.” Yes! The God you serve specializes in making a path (an appointment or testimony) out of mighty waters (disappointments or trials)! There is no mistake with God! What you call a mistake, He calls a mile to your destiny! Always ask yourself: “What lesson have l learnt or what profit can I turn this pain into?” Success can come in many ways! God may choose to take you to the top through a manger (a harsh environment) and not a palace (comfort). That was the story of Jesus – Luke 2:7. Never forget that: Experience is what you get, when you don’t get what you want! Never complain! In 2026, God will stamp His SIGNATURE on you this year! Our Daily Manna ODM Devotional 30th March 2026
