TOPIC: DESTINY IS NOT BUILT IN ONE GIANT LEAP! DAVID RAN TO ADULLAM!
Peter Richard quipped, “The throne is closer than yesterday, but only the faithful will sit on it.” In other words, every faithful step you take everyday draws you closer to your place of destiny. Growth does not ride on the back of one heroic act. Growth belongs to those who keep taking small, faithful steps when no one is clapping, when the feelings have dried up, and when the only sound is your own feet on the wilderness floor. Zechariah 4:10 rings like a trumpet in heaven’s courtroom, “Who has despised the day of small things?” Never! Never! Never do that! Not today! Not tomorrow! That one moment when David’s stone left the sling and Goliath fell, looked like destiny had arrived in a single, dramatic second. But the truth is sharper; even after the giant was dead, David still had to flee to the cave of Adullam. He still needed to start small. So, destiny cast him to a cave! The victory over Goliath gave him fame; the lonely years in Adullam gave him depth! There must be the days of little consistency to amount to mighty victory. That quiet time before dawn when you open the Word even though your eyes are heavy. That skill you practice in a corner. That tithe you gave when the accounts looked impossible. These are not little!
