THE DOMINION POWER OF WORDS: A Sermon from the Sound of Revival Canada 2026

Introduction: Words Are the Most Potent Form of Communication
Words are more than mere sounds or letters strung together; they are the most potent form of communication, distinguishing humans from all other living things. They are the vehicles that carry the nature, the intent, the energy, and the life of the communicator. Sadly, many people have underutilized words, viewing them simply as channels of communication. Yet, they are so powerful that God named Himself “THE WORD” (John 1:1).
In the school of authority and dominion, understanding the spiritual implication of words is a major subject. You cannot fully walk in triumph, victory, or dominion in this Kingdom if you are not trained to grasp the power of your words.
Scripture Points to the Efficacy of Words
The Bible is replete with scriptures pointing to the power of words:
- Ecclesiastes 8:4 (KJV): “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?”
- Psalm 22:8 (KJV): “He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.”
- Proverbs 18:21 (KJV): “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
- Mark 11:23 (KJV): “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

Words are spiritual forces that carry energy, emotions, and intent. They are spiritual building blocks, essential to your life and destiny. They can reveal the level of your spiritual and mental state. The fruits of your words have implications on your destiny, and God uses them as one of the yardsticks to measure spiritual maturity.
Eight Kingdom Truths About Words
- Words Are Instruments of Creation: Just as God spoke the world into existence (Genesis 1:3), your words carry creative power (John 1:3, Colossians 1:15-16).
- Words Are Instruments of Change: They can effect change in any situation, no matter how long it has persisted (Ezekiel 37:1-11).
- Words Are Conveyors and Revealers of Thoughts and Intents: They reveal what is in your heart during conversations.
- Words Are Systems of Authorization and Activation: They carry the power to activate what you speak.
- Words Are Instruments of Dominion: Daniel’s words and actions demonstrated dominion (Daniel 3:28-30).
- Words Are Instruments of Edification: They can build up, strengthen, and bring profit to yourself and others (Ephesians 5:19-20, 1 Samuel 30:6, Colossians 3:16, Romans 10:17).
- Words Convey Our Desires to God: They are how we make our petitions known in prayer (Hosea 14:2, Philippians 4:6).
- Words Are Spiritual Seeds: They can produce harvests of honour, greatness, and glory, or harvests of failure and doom.
Words Are Instruments of Edification and Intimacy
Words are powerful tools for edification, which means to build up or strengthen. You can use words to comfort yourself and others. They are also key to building intimacy with God. How do you know you are building intimacy? You use words to worship Him, not merely to ask for things, but simply to express your love.
Psychology of Conversation
Knowing how to converse exceptionally is a craft that goes beyond linguistic prowess. It requires understanding psychology and emotional responses. Many believers can pray, but have not yet learned the art of using words to create, build, and maintain interpersonal relationships.
Key Principles:
- Never Lose Sight of Honour: When communicating, always maintain honour.
- Insist on Clarity of Thoughts: Minimize rambling; be clear and concise.
- Your Body Language Matters: Your bodily expression can give life to your words.
- Speak to the Person, Not the Wound: Learn how to speak to the wounded, the weak, and even to kings. There are different languages for different audiences: for kings, for royalties, for the weak, for the wounded, and for unbelievers.
- Discernment in Conversation: You cannot speak to everyone the same way. Respect and honour have equal value everywhere.
- Learn the Power of Silence: Sometimes, the best thing to say is to say nothing. Silence cannot be miscommunicated. Wisdom is knowing when to speak and when to remain silent.
Three Levels of Conversation:
- Speaking To People: A basic form of communication.
- Speaking With People: A more collaborative form of dialogue.
- Speaking For People: A powerful form of advocacy and representation.
Warfare and Victory
Understanding the power of words is essential for spiritual warfare. Resisting Satan is continuous. While you have the power to drive him away from your domain, the victory of the Believer is established, but the warfare is still ongoing. Prayer and fasting build the Believer up to enforce that which is already finished in Christ Jesus. It is not the activity itself that has potency, but your mentality, which sponsors your activity.
Prophetic Declarations and Decrees
I decree and declare that anything that needs to change in your life, change in your body, change in your finances, I use the creative power of words, and I command that change right now.
The Lord has set before you an open door. Your words can create an enviable future. Use the Word of God to walk triumphantly. Call forth the helpers ordained for the next season of your life by faith.
I cancel any statement that has resulted in a harvest of pain or regret in your life. Cancel any statement made over you, or you made over yourself, that has scheduled seasons of pain and failure.
Now, use your words to speak life. Declare:
– You shall not die.
– You will have the resources to make the most of your life.
– The hand of the Lord is upon you.
– Your life and witnessing will bring many to Jesus Christ.
– You have the wisdom to build wealth.
– You have a blessed mind.
Open your mouth and rebuke everything that is not of God around your life. Rebuke delay, stagnation, negative patterns, and satanic occurrences.
Speak over your spirit, your mind, and your body. Declare that your emotions will not make you lose relationships.
A Prayer for Dominion
Father, I thank You for the revelation of the dominion power of words. I thank You for all I have learned today. I receive the doing-grace to do everything I have learned. I declare that my words will become an instrument of dominion for me, and that my words will not condemn me. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Conclusion
Your word is your bond; it is an extension of who you are. It can safely represent your presence when you are not there. Learn how to talk to God, learn how to enforce dominion over demons, but also learn to converse with people. If you learn how to communicate with words, you seal your guaranteed dominion.
May your words birth victory, dominion, and the testimonies that God has prepared for you.
