THE POWER OF UNITY
### A Teaching by Dr. Paul Enenche

PART ONE: THE ORIGINAL TEACHING
THE POWER OF UNITY! 🗝️❤️
When a man is trying to prove his own point, and the wife is trying to prove her own point, the sum of their achievement is a shadow compared to the synergy of their energy; Individual correctness can never rival collective harmony. ✍️
The power of unity multiplies potentials. The power of unity preserves peace. The power of unity strengthens love.
Beloved, protect the synergy; that is where the true strength lives.
PART TWO: COMMENTARY ON THE TEACHING
Introduction: The Cry for Unity
Dr. Paul Enenche addresses one of the most critical needs in human relationships—particularly in marriage and family—with a simple but profound observation: individual correctness can never rival collective harmony.
In a world that celebrates individual achievement, personal rights, and self-assertion, this teaching is a counter-cultural call to prioritize relationship over being right. It speaks directly to the tension that exists in every marriage, every family, every team, and every church: the tension between proving your point and preserving your unity.
The Illustration: Husband and Wife
Dr. Enenche uses the marital relationship as his primary illustration, and it is a powerful one. In marriage, two people come together with different perspectives, different backgrounds, different communication styles, and different expectations. Conflict is inevitable. What matters is how that conflict is handled.
“When a man is trying to prove his own point, and the wife is trying to prove her own point…”
This describes a common scenario: both parties are convinced they are right. Both have valid points. Both have legitimate concerns. But in the process of proving their individual correctness, they lose something precious: unity.
“…the sum of their achievement is a shadow compared to the synergy of their energy.”
What do they achieve by proving their points? Perhaps a temporary victory. Perhaps a sense of being vindicated. Perhaps the satisfaction of being heard. But Dr. Enenche calls this a “shadow”—an insubstantial, fleeting, ultimately unsatisfying result.
In contrast, when they lay down the need to prove themselves and instead pursue harmony, they tap into synergy—the combined energy that produces more than the sum of individual efforts. One plus one becomes three, eleven, or a hundred when synergy is at work.
Individual Correctness vs. Collective Harmony
This is the heart of the teaching: “Individual correctness can never rival collective harmony.”
Being right is not wrong. Having correct positions is not bad. But when being right comes at the expense of harmony, the cost is too high. You can be right and alone, or you can be in relationship and sometimes set aside your rightness for the sake of unity.
This does not mean compromising truth or abandoning convictions. It means recognizing that some things are worth more than being right. It means understanding that relationship is more important than winning an argument. It means choosing harmony over victory.
The Threefold Power of Unity
Dr. Enenche identifies three specific powers that unity releases:
1. Unity Multiplies Potentials
When people are united, their combined potential far exceeds what they could achieve individually. This is the principle of synergy. In marriage, a united couple can accomplish what neither could alone—raising children, building a home, serving God, impacting their community.
In the body of Christ, unity releases gifts, talents, and resources that complement one another. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you.” When the body works together, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
2. Unity Preserves Peace
Peace is fragile. It is easily disturbed by conflict, competition, and contention. But unity creates an environment where peace can flourish. When people are united in purpose, in vision, in love, they guard against the things that disrupt peace.
Unity does not mean the absence of disagreement; it means the presence of commitment to work through disagreement without destroying relationship. It is the commitment to preserve peace even when preserving it requires effort.
3. Unity Strengthens Love
Love is not static; it either grows or diminishes. Unity provides the environment for love to deepen. When people stand together, face challenges together, and overcome obstacles together, their love for one another is strengthened.
In marriage, couples who weather storms together emerge with a stronger bond. In families, unity through difficult times creates loyalty and affection that cannot be manufactured any other way.
The Exhortation: Protect the Synergy
“Beloved, protect the synergy; that is where the true strength lives.”
Synergy is precious. It is also fragile. It must be protected. How do you protect synergy?
By valuing relationship over being right – When conflicts arise, ask yourself: Is this issue worth damaging our unity? Is my point more important than our peace?
By choosing harmony over victory – Sometimes the greatest victory is not winning an argument but preserving a relationship.
By guarding your tongue – Words spoken in anger can destroy years of built synergy. Choose words that build up, not tear down.
By forgiving quickly – Offenses will come. Holding onto them poisons the synergy. Release them quickly.
By praying together – Nothing unites like shared prayer. When you pray together, you align your hearts with God and with each other.
By pursuing common goals – When you have shared vision, you pull together rather than apart.
The Application Beyond Marriage
While Dr. Enenche uses the husband-wife relationship as his primary illustration, the principle applies far beyond marriage:
In Families – Siblings who compete rather than cooperate rob themselves of the strength that comes from unity.
In Churches – Congregations divided by preferences, opinions, and personalities lose the power of collective harmony.
In Workplaces – Teams where individuals are more concerned with personal credit than collective success never achieve their full potential.
In Nations – Peoples divided by tribe, ethnicity, or political affiliation cannot experience the blessing of national unity.
PART THREE: SCRIPTURAL FOUNDATIONS
The teaching is rooted in multiple scriptures:
Psalm 133:1-3 – “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forevermore.”
Unity attracts commanded blessing. Where there is unity, God commands His blessing.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Unity multiplies strength, provides mutual support, and creates resilience.
Amos 3:3 – “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”
Agreement is essential for walking together. Without it, the relationship falters.
Philippians 2:2 – “Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”
Paul’s appeal to the Philippians was for unity—like-mindedness, same love, one accord, one mind.
PART FOUR: DECLARATIONS BASED ON THIS TEACHING

I DECLARE that we are a threefold cord not quickly broken—God, my spouse, and me.
-
I DECLARE that we walk together in agreement, and our steps are ordered by the Lord.
-
I DECLARE that I am like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord with those God has placed in my life.
PART FIVE: PRAYER FOR UNITY
Father, I thank You for the gift of relationships—for marriage, for family, for friendship, for fellowship with other believers. You designed us for connection, not isolation. You created us for unity, not division.
Lord, I pray for unity in my marriage. Help me and my spouse to value harmony over being right. When disagreements arise, give us the wisdom to navigate them without damaging our relationship. Let synergy, not conflict, mark our home.
I pray for unity in my family. Heal every division. Restore every broken relationship. Let love cover a multitude of sins. Let forgiveness flow freely.
I pray for unity in my church. Remove every spirit of competition, jealousy, and strife. Let us be of one mind and one accord, working together for the advancement of Your kingdom.
I pray for unity among Your people worldwide. Let the world see our love for one another and know that we are Your disciples.
I receive the power of unity—multiplication of potential, preservation of peace, strengthening of love. I protect the synergy in my relationships, for that is where true strength lives.
In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
CONCLUSION: THE TRUE STRENGTH
Dr. Paul Enenche’s teaching is simple but profound: unity is power. Individual achievement is a shadow compared to collective harmony. The strength of any relationship—marriage, family, church, nation—lies not in the correctness of its individual members but in the synergy of their united energy.
Beloved, protect the synergy. Guard your unity. Value harmony over victory. Forgive quickly. Speak kindly. Pray together. Pursue common goals.
That is where the true strength lives.
