You are welcome to another day in this fasting programme!Augustine Azuka Okocha commonly known as “Jay-Jay Okocha” is a Nigerian former professional footballer known across the world. He was Nigeria’s mid-field maestro. Okocha played football for many clubs across multiple leagues in the world. Besides that, “Jay- Jay” played for Nigeria in three FIFA World Cup tournaments. Before his international stardom, he started his career locally at Enugu Rangers in the Nigerian professional football league. The story goes that his entry into Enugu Rangers was very dramatic and interesting. He was quoted to have said: “Yes, I am a great footballer and all my success is due to the good heart of my friend Victor Agbo. We played together in a youth team. When Enugu Rangers recruiters came to observe us, they told us that the striker who scored the most goals would be recruited into the sport academy. That day, we won 3-0; I scored the first goal, and third goal. Victor scored the second goal! But then the third goal was the one that impressed everyone. Victor started from the wing, then found himself face to face with the keeper, dribbled the goal but decided to pass the ball to me instead of scoring and I scored. This is how I found myself at the Enugu Rangers youth team. After the game, I went to him and asked him, ‘Why did you do that?’ And he replied, “Because I know that you are better than I am and you will go far in life in this game. You needed that push.” There is nothing as good as having a good heart. Oh! DESTINY HELPERS! I sometimes wonder if this story is true because it is too good to be true in the part of the world I come from! GOOD HEARTS ARE SCARCE! Today’s Word says that out of the heart comes the issues of life, hence the need to diligently keep the heart (Proverbs 4:23) – TO BE CONTINUED TOMORROW.
