ODM TOPIC: NO DESPERATION; NO NEW NAME!
Richard Winnie thundered, “Whether God touches you first or you stretch out your hand to Him, one thing is certain: encounters with Him change lives!” In other words, you will never remain the same after one raw, violent, heavenshaking encounter with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! Jacob came to Peniel as a fugitive, a liar, a cheat, a supplanter running for his life. But after one encounter, he left Peniel as Israel, a prince with God! That is the God who still hunts men down today; He will cripple your pride, shatter your self-sufficiency, and leave you forever uplifted to His glory. But you must wrestle! You must bleed in His presence! Jacob’s hip was out of joint, but his destiny was locked in glory forever! You have been having church services instead of collisions with the Holy Ghost! Jacob cried, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” That desperation produced a new name, a new walk, a new future! Many times, it is human desperation that provokes divine intervention! The God who touched Jacob is passing by your location right now. Your new name is loading! Get ready for the limp that announces that you have seen God! Jacob cried through sweat and tears and blood in the dirt, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” But catch this: God will meet you exactly where you are, but He will not leave you there!Close with Isaiah 62:6-7, “Ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give Him no rest, till He establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”
