30-Day New Month Prayer Challenge: A Day-by-Day Guide
One prayer a day. Thirty days. A simple, structured way to cover every area of your life before God this month — no guesswork about what to pray, just open this guide each morning and follow along.

Most “new month prayer” content gives you one long list of 50-100 prayer points to pray through in a single sitting on day one — and then nothing for the remaining 29 days. This guide takes a different approach: one focused theme per day, spread across the whole month, so your prayer life has structure and depth instead of a single overwhelming burst on day one that fades by day three.
Each day includes a theme, a short prayer point to pray in your own words, and a scripture to anchor it. Bookmark this page — you’ll be coming back to it daily.
How to Use This Challenge
- Spend 5-10 minutes each day with that day’s theme. You don’t need to pray for hours — consistency matters more than length.
- Read the scripture first, then pray the point in your own words — the prompts here are starting points, not scripts to recite word-for-word.
- If you miss a day, don’t restart — just pick up where you left off. Grace, not perfection, is the point.
Week 1: Foundation & Surrender (Days 1-7)
Day 1 — Gratitude
Thank God specifically for bringing you into this new month alive and well. “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.” (Lamentations 3:22)
Day 2 — Surrender of the Past Month
Release whatever didn’t go well last month — mistakes, regrets, unmet goals — into God’s hands. “Forgetting those things which are behind… I press toward the mark.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
Day 3 — Direction for the Month
Ask God for clarity on priorities: what deserves your attention this month, and what doesn’t. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16:3)
Day 4 — Spiritual Hunger
Pray for a renewed hunger for God’s presence and His Word this month, not just His blessings. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” (Matthew 5:6)
Day 5 — Family
Cover your immediate and extended family — unity, health, protection, salvation for those who don’t yet know God. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
Day 6 — Health
Pray over your physical body and mind — strength, healing where needed, and wisdom in how you steward your health this month. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health.” (3 John 1:2)
Day 7 — Rest & Reflect
No new request today — simply sit quietly before God and listen. Review days 1-6 and notice what’s stirred in you.
Week 2: Provision & Purpose (Days 8-14)
Day 8 — Finances
Pray over income, debts, and financial decisions you’ll face this month. “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory.” (Philippians 4:19)
Day 9 — Work or Business
Cover your job, business, or career assignment — favor, wisdom, and fruitfulness. “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
Day 10 — Divine Opportunities
Ask God to open doors this month that only He could open, and to close ones that would lead you astray. “Behold, I have set before thee an open door.” (Revelation 3:8)
Day 11 — Wisdom in Decisions
Pray for discernment for any major decision on your plate this month. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God.” (James 1:5)
Day 12 — Purpose
Ask God to realign you with your deeper purpose, beyond this month’s tasks and deadlines. “For I know the plans I have for you.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Day 13 — Generosity
Pray about how you can be a blessing to someone else this month — not just what you’ll receive. “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
Day 14 — Rest & Reflect
Pause again. What’s God been highlighting about provision and purpose so far this month?
Week 3: Protection & Spiritual Warfare (Days 15-21)
Day 15 — Protection Over Your Life
Pray covering over your physical safety — travel, health, daily movements. “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1)
Day 16 — Against Fear & Anxiety
Pray against a spirit of fear or worry trying to grip you this month. “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
Day 17 — Against Discouragement
If last month left you discouraged, pray specifically against that weight carrying into this one. “Why art thou cast down, O my soul?… hope thou in God.” (Psalm 42:11)
Day 18 — Breaking Cycles
Name one recurring pattern or struggle, and pray specifically for breakthrough from it this month. “Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Day 19 — Covering Your Words
Pray that your words this month build up rather than tear down — yourself and others. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)
Day 20 — Spiritual Alertness
Pray for discernment to recognize anything this month that isn’t aligned with God’s best for you. “Be sober, be vigilant.” (1 Peter 5:8)
Day 21 — Rest & Reflect
You’re three weeks in. Reflect honestly: where have you seen answered prayer so far this month?
Week 4: Relationships & Community (Days 22-28)
Day 22 — Friendships
Pray for the friendships in your life — wisdom in who to draw closer, grace in any that need repair. “A friend loveth at all times.” (Proverbs 17:17)
Day 23 — Marriage or Future Spouse
If married, pray for your spouse and marriage specifically. If single, pray for wisdom and peace in that season. “Two are better than one.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
Day 24 — Church & Community
Pray for your local church, pastor, and faith community. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.” (Hebrews 10:25)
Day 25 — Forgiveness
Bring to mind anyone you’re holding something against, and pray through releasing it. “Forgive, if ye have ought against any.” (Mark 11:25)
Day 26 — Those in Need
Pray for someone in your life currently going through a hard season. “Bear ye one another’s burdens.” (Galatians 6:2)
Day 27 — Your Testimony
Pray that your life this month reflects God well to those watching — family, coworkers, neighbors. “Let your light so shine before men.” (Matthew 5:16)
Day 28 — Rest & Reflect
Almost there. What relationship has God been working on in you this month?
Final Days: Closing the Month in Faith (Days 29-30)
Day 29 — Gratitude & Testimony
Look back over the whole month and thank God specifically for what He’s done — even the small things. “In every thing give thanks.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Day 30 — Preparing for the Next Month
Ask God to help you close this month well and step into the next one already postured in faith, not scrambling. “His compassions fail not. They are new every morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to start this on the 1st of the month?
No — start whenever you find this guide. Day 1 is simply “today,” regardless of the calendar date.
What if I miss several days in a row?
Pick up from where you stopped, or skip to the current calendar day. The goal is consistency over the stretch of a month, not perfection.
Can I use this with a prayer group or family?
Yes — many readers go through this together, sharing a verse or reflection each day in a WhatsApp group or at dinner. It works well as a shared rhythm, not just an individual one.
Is this challenge based on any particular church tradition?
No — it draws broadly from Scripture and is meant to be usable across denominations and prayer traditions.
Closing Thought
Thirty days is long enough to build a real rhythm, and short enough not to feel impossible. However this month has started for you, there’s still time to walk through it intentionally, one day and one prayer at a time.
