Proverbs 17:22 says, “a merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” The world is full of anxiety and Job once said, “Man is of few days, compared to etenity and full of troubles”(Job 14:1). Jesus was more blunt as usual. He said, “In the world you shall have tribulations, troubles and trials but be of good cheer” (John 16:33). David was milder in Psalm 34:19: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous,but the Lord delivereth him out of them all”. So when God decided to give Abraham a son, he called the boy “Isaac,” meaning laughter. From today’s text, the family had probably gone through a period of ridicule, while waiting for the promise of God to be fulfilled. It took 25 years, but they kept a merry heart. ABRAHAM KEPT ON BUILDING ALTARS, despite their delays and ridicule! No matter what you are going through or have gone through, rejoice or pretend to rejoice if need be, but don’t die young through worry and anxiety, which leads to high blood pressure and other deadly diseases. Learn to laugh, STAY CALM, rejoice and give thanks (even if it means pretending to laugh) in all things. But refuse to be depressed! Be reminded again that Dr John Morrelal, a sociologist, once said: “When you are laughing you feel elated, because you take in 6 times more oxygen, than when you are having a conversation.” Laughter produces a relaxation response, which lowers your blood pressure, heartbeat rate and muscle tension to normal. Laughter is also a painkiller. So laugh at the devil daily and laugh your way to success and good health. He that keeps Israel (you) does not sleep nor slumber! He that laughs last laughs the best. Learn to laugh at your own personal mistakes and failures too! Forgive yourself and resist depression! May your laughter never cease! May your mouth be WI DER for laughter in this 2nd half of 2023! Lift up your hands and shout 8 halleluiahs and then begin to laugh at the devil! LAUGH NOW!
