BASIC SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 10:21-29 (KJV)

And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
-
And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:
-
They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.

And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.

Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go.

And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.

And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, let every darkness of the enemy that is felt in my life be dispelled by Your light. Let me not walk in thick darkness.

Lord, I thank You that though the world is in darkness, I have light in my dwelling. Let Your light shine in my home, my family, and my heart.
-
Father, I refuse to compromise with Pharaoh. Let me not leave anything behind that I need to serve You.
-
Lord, help me to hold fast to all that You have given me. Let not a hoof be left behind in Egypt.
-
Father, I will not negotiate with the enemy. I will not serve You with leftovers. Let me serve You with all that I have.
-
Lord, harden not my heart against Your will. Let me be sensitive to Your voice and obedient to Your commands.
-
Father, let me not be driven from Your presence by the threats of the enemy. Let me stand firm in the face of opposition.
-
Lord, give me the boldness of Moses to say, “I will see thy face again no more.” Let me not be intimidated by the threats of the world.
DECLARATIONS
-
I declare that the thick darkness of the enemy does not touch me. I have light in my dwelling.
-
Though the world is blind and cannot see, I walk in the light of the Lord. His light is upon me and within me.
-
I will not leave anything behind that I need to serve the Lord. All that belongs to me goes with me.
-
Not a hoof shall be left behind. I take all that God has given me out of the bondage of Egypt.
-
I will not serve the Lord with leftovers. I serve Him with all that I have and all that I am.
-
My heart is not hardened against God. I am sensitive to His voice and obedient to His commands.
-
I will not be driven from God’s presence by the threats of the enemy. I stand firm in the face of opposition.
-
I will not see the face of the enemy again. I am done with compromise. I am moving forward with God.
ADDITIONAL REFLECTION
Key Verse: Exodus 10:23 — “They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.”
The Plague of Darkness (Verses 21-23):
This was the ninth plague. God commanded Moses to stretch out his hand toward heaven, and a thick darkness covered all the land of Egypt. It was a darkness that could be felt — not just a lack of light, but a palpable, oppressive presence. For three days, the Egyptians could not see one another. They could not move from their places. They were frozen, paralyzed, trapped in their own blindness. But in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel lived, there was light. The distinction was clear. The darkness was for Egypt. The light was for God’s people.
Darkness That Could Be Felt:
This was not ordinary darkness. It was supernatural. It was oppressive. It was terrifying. It was a foretaste of the judgment to come. The Egyptians were experiencing the absence of God’s light. They were left in their own blindness. They could not see. They could not move. They were paralyzed by the darkness.
Light in Their Dwellings:
While Egypt was in darkness, Israel had light. The same God who brought the darkness brought the light. He distinguished between His people and the world. The judgment that fell on Egypt did not fall on Goshen. The darkness that paralyzed the enemy did not touch the children of light.
Pharaoh’s Compromise (Verse 24):
After the plague of darkness, Pharaoh called for Moses. He offered a compromise: “Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.” He was willing to let the people go, but he wanted to keep their possessions. He wanted them to leave their wealth behind. It was a trap. If they left their flocks and herds, they would have to return. They would be bound to Egypt by their possessions.
Moses’ Refusal (Verses 25-26):
Moses refused the compromise. He said, “Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God. Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind.” Moses would not leave anything behind that was needed for the service of God. He knew that every part of their provision was for the Lord’s service. He would not negotiate with the enemy. He would not accept a partial deliverance.
The Hardened Heart (Verse 27):
The Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go. God’s hardening was a judgment. Pharaoh had hardened his own heart so many times that God confirmed his choice. He was given over to his own stubbornness.
Pharaoh’s Threat (Verse 28):
Pharaoh was angry. He said, “Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.” The king of Egypt threatened the servant of God with death. He thought he had the power to take Moses’ life. He thought he could intimidate him into silence.
Moses’ Response (Verse 29):
Moses replied, “Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.” He did not argue. He did not negotiate. He accepted the separation. He would not see Pharaoh’s face again. He was done with the king of Egypt. He would not be intimidated. He would not be threatened. He would not be manipulated. He was moving forward with God.
Question for the Day:
Is there a darkness in your life that can be felt? Or do you have light in your dwelling? Is the enemy trying to get you to leave something behind — a compromise, a possession, a relationship? Will you say with Moses, “Not a hoof shall be left behind”? And will you stand firm in the face of the enemy’s threats, refusing to be intimidated?
