TOPIC: HE IS MY BROTHER! HE IS MY LORD! WOW!
A woman went to a diet centre to lose weight. The director took her to a full-length mirror. On it, he outlined a figure and told her, “This is what I want you to look like at the end of the program.” Days of intense dieting and exercise followed and every week the woman would stand in front of the mirror, discouraged because her bulging tummy didn’t fit the director’s ideal. But she kept at it and finally one day she conformed to the image she longed for. Amazing! Just like the woman, the Holy Ghost wants you not to be discouraged as you strive to conform daily to the image of Christ! Conforming to the image of Christ can be demanding because the OLD MAN, which is the nature of sin is always at war with THE NEW MAN, which is the nature of Christ! Hence, when you put yourself next to Christ’s perfect character, it will reveal to you how “out of shape” you are! Vs. 18 of today’s scripture says: “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory…” Then Romans 8:29 reveals: “For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Jesus Christ Is The Firstborn Amongst Many Brethren! Wow! So He understands you and wants to help you to BE LIKE HIM IN CHARACTER! He is not just your LORD, but He is also your BROTHER! Ah! I am dancing already on this writing table! Conformity can be painful! The process can involve a road of pain and challenges because God is turning you into the IMAGE OF HIS SON! But note that the LORD Jesus was perfect, yet He had to learn obedience through the things He suffered (Hebrews 5:8). Close with this: When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost! Yes! No matter the matter, hold on and hold out because you are being moulded into His IMAGE!
