ODM TOPIC: THE GOSPEL ARTIST THAT JUMPED OVER A TRAP!
Frank Edwards is a very famous Nigerian gospel star who is wellknown in the Christian community for his beautiful songs. He has shared his story on several platforms where he goes to minister. He said that one time, when some individuals heard his song, they approached him and told him they wanted to sponsor him and put him on the big platform. He loved the idea, and once they invited him for a sit-down, he was happy to go. But when they made known their proposal, that he should drop the name of Jesus in all of his songs, he knew immediately that a dog had entered the scenario. It was very appetizing. It would cost him nothing to devour it, they promised. But Frank knew that there was nothing free, even in Freetown! He rejected their offer swiftly and continued on the path he knew best, the path that may be slow, tied to times and seasons, but a sure path! Today, he is among the most famous gospel singers glorifying the name of Jesus. Beverly Sills said, “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” Everything that is worth fighting for, will always have the temptations of shortcuts! But I want to inform you that shortcuts are always the routes that lead to longer cuts, REGRETS and doom! Matt 16:26 (KJV) says, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” If you take shortcuts, you get cut short! Shortcuts are good, but only for computers, not life! Shortcuts are easy, but they cost more time, money, and reputation in the long run! Avoid them! Close with Sidney Greenberg, “Character is not obtained instantly. We have to mould and hammer and forge ourselves into character.
