Aman, a herpetologist (a person who works with snakes – reptiles and amphibians) was working one day in the forest when he saw a non-poisonous snake being burnt by bush fire!

The man looked at this poor helpless snake and decided to help it. He quickly went close to the fire and grabbed the snake. Immediately he grabbed the snake, the snake turned and bit the man painfully on the hand. The man dropped the snake quickly back into the fire.
The man saw that the snake was burning again in the fire; he quickly found and used a long stick to remove the snake out of the fire. And because of that, the snake was saved. As this was happening, there was a farmer close by watching the “drama.”
This farmer got close to the man and said: “You tried saving this snake but the snake turned and bit you on the hand and you went ahead saving the snake. Why did you do that?’
The man replied: ‘The nature of the snake is to bite and that is what it knows to do. My nature is to help and that is what I am doing. So I have to be me.” Wow! If it was you or me, we would have killed that snake immediately! But catch this: “The fact that someone has betrayed you before doesn’t mean that you need to change your nature!
The fact that someone had disappointed you doesn’t mean that you need to change your nature, to disappoint others.” Colossians 3:13 says, “bear with each other and forgive one another. If any of you have grievances against someone, forgive them as the Lord has forgiven you.”
In this year 2024, don’t change your nature because of others! You have been called to be the light in the world; to be the salt in the world! People will step on your feet, people will hurt you, people will betray/disappoint you; but don’t stoop low to be like them. Be yourself – a child of God! Be a GREAT SHINING LIGHT!Amen!
