Commentary

Today, Tuesday 19th May 2026, is Ephphatha Tuesday – a day of divine opening. The word “Ephphatha” is an Aramaic word spoken by Jesus Himself, recorded only in Mark 7:34. Jesus looked up to heaven, sighed, and said to a deaf and mute man: “Ephphatha” – “Be opened.” Immediately, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly.

Pastor Jerry Eze declares that the same Jesus who spoke Ephphatha over that man is speaking Ephphatha over every closed area of your life today. “Lift up your heads, oh ye gates of May” – this echoes Psalm 24:7, where the psalmist commands the ancient gates to lift up their heads so that the King of Glory may come in. The gates of May – the doors of this month – have been commanded to open. They cannot remain closed. They cannot resist the voice of the King.

“The God of wonders is putting new keys in our hands.” Keys represent authority, access, and ownership. When God gives you a key, He is giving you the right to open what was previously locked. These are not old keys that have failed before – these are new keys to new seasons, new keys to new answers. What you could not open yesterday, you will open today. What was sealed last month, you will access this month.

The anchor scripture is Mark 7:34 – but note the context. The man was brought to Jesus by others. He could not come on his own. His friends carried him. His friends interceded for him. And Jesus, looking up to heaven, sighed. That sigh was not frustration – it was compassion. It was the groan of the Spirit. It was the sound of divine intervention being activated.

Today, you are not just praying for yourself. The prophetic instruction is clear: bring everyone that you know is sick to the altar of fire. Carry your loved ones. Carry your friends. Carry your neighbours. Those who cannot pray for themselves – you pray for them. Those who cannot come to the altar – you bring them. This is a day of corporate Ephphatha.

The ten areas targeted for Ephphatha cover every dimension of life:

• Destiny – The closed doors of purpose and calling. Ephphatha – be opened.
• Father’s House – Your family line, your bloodline, your household. Let every generational blockage be opened.

• Stubborn Challenges – The problems that have refused to go. Ephphatha – be opened and released.
• Evil Cycles – The repeating patterns of failure and pain. Ephphatha – be broken and opened.
• Thrones & Crowns – Your authority, your rulership, your kingship. Ephphatha – be established.
• Joy & Laughter – The sealed well of celebration. Ephphatha – let joy flow.
