NATHAN HALE: STAND TILL THE END
During the American Revolutionary War, Nathan Hale was captured. Before he was executed, he asked to be allowed to write to his parents and was obliged. The handwritten note washowever torn to pieces before his face when he refused to deny his country! He was given another opportunity again just before his death to deny his country. This time, he looked his captors in the face and boldly declared, “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” He was immediately hanged and his body burnt, but his death sparked a new “fire” for the revolutionaries. He gave a struggling band of colonists a rallying cry that inspired them and helped them to win despite terrible odds. The fact that Nathan Hale made a decision to maintain his dignity and stand by his conviction in the face of problems and death is what has turned him into a hero today! If you must win in this year 2026, you must make up your mind to stand by whatever you start or have started till the end. Be committed to your ministry, academics, your family, your job/business despite the arrows of discouragement the enemy may shoot! Commitment is what makes conquerors! It was Peter Marshall who made this popular statement/prayer: “God, give us the courage to stand for something lest we fall for anything.” No one (including God and the devil) can tell how serious you are with your vision or goals for the year, until crisis comes to put you to the test! After your fasting and prayers in this first quarter of the year and you put your hands to any work, let the fact of your actions so constitute the evidence that you mean to prosecute to the end!
