BASIC SCRIPTURE: JUDGES 7: 1-7

Basic Scripture: Judges 7:1-7 (King James Version)

1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.
4 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.
5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.
6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.
7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

Prayer Points and Declarations

1. Rising Early to Face the Battle

• Scripture Ref: v. 1

• Prayer Point: Father, give me the diligence of Gideon to rise early and position myself for battle. Let me not be slothful or fearful when enemies gather against me. I choose to face my battles head-on, trusting in Your direction.

• Declaration: I rise early to face my battles! I do not shrink back from conflict. I position myself where God directs, knowing that the battle is not mine but the Lord’s .

2. God Removes Pride from My Victory

• Scripture Ref: v. 2

• Prayer Point: Lord, examine my heart. If there is any tendency to take credit for Your victories, strip it away. I would rather go into battle with fewer resources and give You all the glory than win with many and be tempted to boast.

• Declaration: My own hand shall not save me! I refuse to vaunt myself against God. Every victory in my life will be attributed to Him alone. He gets all the glory, for He is the source of my deliverance .

3. Letting Fear Depart

• Scripture Ref: v. 3

• Prayer Point: Father, I bring before You every fear that would disqualify me from the battle. If I have been operating in fear, expose it and let it depart. I choose to walk in faith, not in fear.

• Declaration: Fear has no place in my life! I am not among those who return because of fear. I go forward with boldness, knowing that God is with me. Perfect love casts out fear .

4. Surrendering to God’s Selection

• Scripture Ref: v. 4

• Prayer Point: Lord, I submit to Your process of selection. You know who is fit for the battle. If I am to be reduced, let it be according to Your will. I trust Your judgment over my own assessment.

• Declaration: I submit to God’s selection process! He knows the end from the beginning. If He reduces me, it is to position me for greater victory. I trust His pruning and His choosing.

5. Being Alert and Ready

• Scripture Ref: v. 5-6 (The Lappers)

• Prayer Point: Father, give me the spirit of alertness represented by the three hundred. Let me not be so consumed with my own needs that I drop my guard. Teach me to stay watchful, even in moments of refreshment.

• Declaration: I am like the three hundred—alert, watchful, and ready! Even when I drink, I keep my eyes on the enemy. I am not distracted by my own comfort. I remain vigilant in the Spirit at all times .

6. Refusing to Be Consumed with Self

• Scripture Ref: v. 6 (Those Who Bowed)

• Prayer Point: Lord, forgive me for the times I have been so consumed with my own needs—my thirst, my comfort, my rest—that I took my eyes off the battle. Realign my priorities so that I am always battle-ready.

• Declaration: I will not bow down to self-consumption! My needs do not control me. I am battle-ready, alert, and focused on the assignment God has given me .

7. Victory by God’s Unlikely Means

• Scripture Ref: v. 7

• Prayer Point: Father, I believe that You can deliver me with a remnant. I do not need a multitude of resources, connections, or strength. You specialize in using the few to defeat the many. I trust Your math.

• Declaration: By the few, God will save me! I do not need numbers, armies, or human resources. My God specializes in doing much with little. What looks like weakness in my hand is strength in His .

8. Sending Away What God Sends Away

• Scripture Ref: v. 7

• Prayer Point: Lord, give me the wisdom to release what You release. If there are people, resources, or strategies that You are sending away, help me to let them go without striving. I trust Your pruning.

• Declaration: I release what God releases! I will not cling to what He sends away. If He is reducing me, it is for my ultimate victory. I embrace His process without resistance .

9. Overcoming the Midianite Mentality

• Scripture Ref: v. 1 (Context: The Midianites were oppressors)

• Prayer Point: Father, every Midianite in my life—every oppression, every cycle of defeat, every enemy that has held me captive—I declare that their time is up. You are raising me up as a deliverer by Your power.

• Declaration: My Midianites are falling! The oppressor will not prevail against me. God has chosen me as a deliverer, and I will see the enemy flee before me .

10. The Victory Belongs to the Lord

• Prayer Point: Lord, let every victory in my life point back to You. Whether I go to battle with thirty-two thousand or three hundred, let the testimony be the same: “The Lord did this.” I give You all the praise in advance.
