In early January 2026, Nigerian bandits kidnapped more than 150 churchgoers. The kidnappers took the victims to the forest and then demanded 17 motorbikes, each costing roughly 100 dollars in return. This incident comes after attackers raided three churches in conflict-hit Kaduna state, northwest Nigeria.They seized 177 people – before 11 managed to escape. It marks one of the largest mass abductions in recent months for the country – which has been plagued by sectarian violence. I ask myself, “When these worshippers shouted, “HAPPY NEW YEAR” on January 1st 2026, did they know it will be, “HELPLESS NEW KIDNAPPING?” That is why in 2026, you must WATCH and PRAY so that you are not caught unawares of any satanic plan! In the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26: 39-41), sleepiness overcame the disciples! We don’t know of any death yet in the early-year kidnapping, but I suddenly remembered today’s scripture vs. 25, “And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.” Vs. 26 says, “They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.” That means it does not matter how you die; whether in comfort or discomfort, whether in a church or in the market place, you must always remember that you must die anyhow someday! But we can pray to AVERT WHAT CAN BE AVERTED! Winston Churchill wrote, “Don’t worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you.” That means you will become more ALERT in your spirit to avoid every AVOIDABLE CRISIS! Avoid sin! Sometimes to avoid temptation is better than battling it! Be wise! Learn! Watch/ pray daily!
