Oh! Moroccan goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, popularly known as “Bono,” claimed the Best Goalkeeper award for his outstanding performance during the just-concluded January Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. I also remember that years ago, the then Nigerian Super Eagles goalkeeper/trainer, Mr. Ike Shorunmu, gave a specific reason why European countries deliberately do not commonly sign on African goalkeepers again. “What the European clubs do is to spend a fortune to buy good African defenders and midfielders to shield their goalkeepers.” Hear him: “The European club now goes the extra mile to ensure that their clubs use their indigenous keepers.” Then CATCH THIS: “Most clubs believe that if they have quality defenders and mid- fielders, they can always manage any goalkeeper.” What a lesson of life from a sports principle and the Holy Ghost is also saying that in this 2nd quarter of 2026, it is time for you to shield your goalkeeper from enemies! Your goalkeeper is that man or woman who is your last line in your life’s goals. Your “goalkeeper” can be your pastor, your spouse, your children, your crucial helper, your career boss, etc. You must act as a line of defense and attack for them through regular prayers or otherwise. Satan wants to strike them and set your life, family and ministry in disarray. Today’s scripture vs. 27 says, “And Jesus saith unto them, ‘All ye shall be offended because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.” He was their, “Goal-Keeper” and striking Him scattered them. On this Easter Sunday, arise and declare aloud to the devil today: “You shall not strike my ‘Goal Keeper.’ The Ressurection of Christ has given me the victory!” Happy Easter 2026!
