Vs 3 of today’s scripture says: “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.” Note the words: Take heed to yourselves! The main reason you must forgive is because of yourself, not others! Unforgiveness can provoke bitterness which can provoke closed heavens and that is why many “RED SEAS” DO NOT DIVIDE! As you encounter people daily, you must take heed to yourself! Truth is that offences must surely come (vs. 1)! People must betray you! Yes, your most trusted soul could betray you the most! Those you have helped in the past can repay you with evil! Someone can even hurt you just after this devotional encounter and that is why you must forgive in advance and refuse to live in bitterness! When Satan wants to hinder your prayers and delay your dancing, he will set people to deliberately hurt you in order to make you bitter! Disappoint him! No wonder Lewis Smedes wrote: “The problem with revenge is that it never gets what it wants; it never evens the score. Fairness never comes. The chain reaction set off by every act of vengeance always takes its unhindered course. It ties both the injured and the injurer to an escalator of pain…Why do family feuds go on and on?…the reason is simple: no two people, no two families, ever weigh pain on the same scale.” In this year 2025, determine to forgive your past and to forgive others! Resist bitterness because your best days are still ahead. Shout it aloud 3 times now: “The devil is a liar FOREVER.” (ODM is the best birthday/anniversary/wedding, etc, gift).
