BASIC SCRIPTURES: GENESIS 50:19-21 ; PROVERBS 16:9-15
BASIC SCRIPTURE: THURSDAY, 22ND OCTOBER 2026 — GENESIS 50:19-21 (KJV)
And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
BASIC SCRIPTURE: PROVERBS 16:9-15 (KJV)
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
A just weight and balance are the LORD’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

PRAYER POINTS — THURSDAY, 22ND OCTOBER 2026
Father, help me to trust Your sovereignty. Even when others mean evil against me, let me know that You mean it for good.
Lord, let me not take vengeance into my own hands. Let me leave room for Your justice and Your purpose.
Father, give me the heart of Joseph — to forgive, to comfort, and to nourish those who wronged me.
Lord, I acknowledge that a man’s heart devises his way, but You direct his steps. Order my steps according to Your will.
Father, let me not be anxious about my plans. Let me trust You to direct my path.
Lord, let me walk in righteousness and justice. Let my words be right and my deeds be just.
Father, let Your favour be upon me as a cloud of the latter rain. Let me find favour with those in authority.
Lord, let me be a peacemaker. Let me pacify wrath and bring calm where there is conflict.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — THURSDAY, 22ND OCTOBER 2026
Key Verse (Genesis): Genesis 50:20 — “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass as it is this day, to save much people alive.”
Key Verse (Proverbs): Proverbs 16:9 — “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
Am I in the Place of God? (Genesis 50:19):
Joseph’s brothers were afraid. Their father Jacob was dead. They feared that Joseph would now take revenge for all the evil they had done to him. They feared that he would repay them for selling him into slavery. They feared that he would punish them for the years of suffering he had endured. They sent a message to Joseph, claiming that their father had instructed him to forgive them. They fell before him and said, “Behold, we be thy servants.” But Joseph wept. He wept because they did not understand. They did not understand his heart. They did not understand his forgiveness. They did not understand his grace. He said to them, “Fear not: for am I in the place of God?” Joseph knew his place. He was not God. He was not the judge. He was not the avenger. He was not the one who repays. He knew that vengeance belongs to God. He knew that judgment belongs to God. He knew that justice belongs to God. And he would not take the place of God.
You Thought Evil, God Meant It For Good (Genesis 50:20):
Joseph then gave one of the most powerful statements in Scripture. “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass as it is this day, to save much people alive.” His brothers had evil intentions. They wanted to harm him. They wanted to destroy him. They wanted to get rid of him. They sold him into slavery. They thought they had ended his dreams. They thought they had destroyed his destiny. They thought they had killed his future. But God had other plans. God was working behind the scenes. God was working through their wickedness. God was working all things together for good. What they meant for evil, God meant for good. What they intended for destruction, God intended for deliverance. What they planned for harm, God planned for salvation. Joseph was sold into slavery. But he became the Prime Minister of Egypt. He was imprisoned. But he was elevated. He was forgotten. But he was remembered. He was humbled. But he was exalted. And through his elevation, he saved his family. He saved Egypt. He saved many people. The evil of his brothers became the channel of God’s blessing.
Fear Not, I Will Nourish You (Genesis 50:21):
Joseph did not stop at forgiveness. He went further. He promised to provide for them. He promised to take care of them. He promised to nourish them. He promised to care for their little ones. He comforted them. He spoke kindly unto them. He did not just forgive. He restored. He did not just pardon. He provided. He did not just let them go. He embraced them. This is the heart of true forgiveness. It is not enough to say, “I forgive you.” It is not enough to release the offence. It is not enough to let go of the anger. True forgiveness goes further. It restores the relationship. It seeks the welfare of the offender. It provides for their needs. It speaks kindly to them. It comforts them. It loves them.
A Man’s Heart Deviseth His Way (Proverbs 16:9):
Solomon gives a profound truth. A man’s heart devises his way. We make plans. We set goals. We dream dreams. We strategize. We calculate. We organize. We prepare. We decide. We choose. We determine. We plan our path. We map out our future. We design our destiny. But the LORD directs his steps. God is the one who orders our steps. God is the one who guides our path. God is the one who determines our direction. God is the one who controls our destiny. We can make our plans. But God has the final say. We can devise our way. But God directs our steps. We can dream our dreams. But God determines the outcome. We can set our goals. But God establishes our path. Trust God with your plans. Trust God with your dreams. Trust God with your future. He knows better than you. He sees further than you. He understands more than you. He will direct your steps.
The Divine Sentence in the Lips of the King (Proverbs 16:10-15):
Solomon speaks about kings. A divine sentence is in the lips of the king. His mouth transgresses not in judgment. A just weight and balance are the LORD’s. All the weights of the bag are His work. It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness. The throne is established by righteousness. Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They love him that speaks right. The wrath of a king is as messengers of death. But a wise man will pacify it. In the light of the king’s countenance is life. His favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. Solomon is speaking about earthly kings. But he is also speaking about the King of Kings. God is the ultimate King. His sentence is divine. His judgment is just. His weights are accurate. His balance is true. His throne is established by righteousness. His lips are righteous. His wrath is terrible. His favour is life. His countenance brings light. His favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. Seek His favour. Seek His light. Seek His countenance. Seek His righteousness. Walk in His ways. Honour His laws. Obey His commands. And His favour will be upon you. His light will shine upon you. His blessing will follow you.
The Lesson for Us:
Do not take vengeance. Do not take the place of God. Trust His sovereignty. Trust His justice. Trust His timing. Even when others mean evil against you, God means it for good. Even when you are betrayed, God is working. Even when you are sold, God is moving. Even when you are imprisoned, God is planning. Even when you are forgotten, God is remembering. Even when you are humbled, God is preparing. He is working all things together for your good. He is directing your steps. He is ordering your path. He is establishing your destiny. Trust Him. Forgive those who wronged you. Comfort them. Nourish them. Speak kindly to them. And watch God work. Watch God move. Watch God bless. Watch God restore. Watch God vindicate. Watch God glorify His name in your life.
Question for the Day — Thursday, 22nd October 2026:
Have you been betrayed? Have you been wronged? Have you been sold out? Do not take the place of God. Do not take vengeance. Trust His sovereignty. He means it for good. He is directing your steps. He is working all things together for your good. Forgive. Comfort. Nourish. Speak kindly. And watch God work.
