Prayer point for today
Prayer point for today
  1. And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

  2. And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

  3. And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

BASIC SCRIPTURE: HEBREWS 10:26-31 (KJV)

  1. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

  2. But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

  3. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

  4. Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

  5. For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

  6. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION — MONDAY, 5TH OCTOBER 2026

Key Verse (Judges): Judges 16:20 — “And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.”

Key Verse (Hebrews): Hebrews 10:31 — “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Samson and Delilah (Judges 16:18-20):

Samson was the strongest man in Israel. He had been given supernatural strength by God. He had defeated the Philistines many times. He had been a judge and a deliverer. But he had a weakness. He loved the wrong women. He loved women who did not love God. He loved women who were enemies of his people. And the Philistines used his weakness to destroy him. They hired Delilah. She was beautiful. She was seductive. She was persistent. She wanted to know the secret of his strength. She nagged him. She pressured him. She manipulated him. She pretended to love him. And eventually, she got what she wanted. Samson told her all his heart. He revealed the secret. He disclosed the source of his strength. He thought he could trust her. He thought she loved him. He thought he was safe. He was wrong.

The Trap of Seduction:

Delilah made Samson sleep upon her knees. She called for a man. She caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head. She began to afflict him. His strength went from him. And she said, “The Philistines be upon thee, Samson.” He awoke. He said, “I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself.” He thought he could still fight. He thought he could still win. He thought he could still overcome. But the Bible says, “And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.” He did not know. He did not perceive. He did not realize. The Spirit of God had left him. His strength was gone. His glory was stolen. His destiny was destroyed. He was captured. His eyes were plucked out. He was bound in chains. He was made to grind in the prison house. He was a shadow of his former self. He had fallen. He had failed. He had lost everything. Because he played with sin. Because he slept on the lap of compromise.

Wilful Sin (Hebrews 10:26-27):

The writer of Hebrews gives a solemn warning. “If we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” Wilful sin is deliberate sin. It is intentional sin. It is sin committed with full knowledge. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it is wrong. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it offends God. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it grieves the Holy Spirit. It is sin committed with the knowledge that it is disobedient to the will of God. And the warning is severe. There remains no more sacrifice for sins. There is only a fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation. God will not be mocked. God will not be played with. God will not be taken for granted.

Trampling Under Foot the Son of God (Hebrews 10:28-29):

The writer compares the old covenant with the new covenant. Under the old covenant, those who despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses. If that was the penalty for despising the law of Moses, how much sorer punishment will be given to those who despise the Son of God? Those who trample under foot the Son of God. Those who count the blood of the covenant as an unholy thing. Those who do despite unto the Spirit of grace. Those who treat the sacrifice of Christ as nothing. Those who live in sin while claiming the grace of God. Those who abuse the blood of Christ. Those who ignore the pleading of the Holy Spirit. Those who reject the truth. Those who mock God. Those who act as if the blood of Christ is a common thing. Those who are ungrateful. Those who are presumptuous.

Vengeance Belongs to the Lord (Hebrews 10:30-31):

The writer reminds them of the words of God. “Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord.” God is the judge. God is the avenger. God is the one who repays. God is the one who recompenses. And again, “The Lord shall judge his people.” This is not just about the world. This is about the church. This is about believers. This is about those who claim His name. God will judge His people. He will discipline them. He will correct them. He will punish them. He will not ignore their sin. He will not overlook their rebellion. He will not excuse their disobedience. And then the climactic statement: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” The hands of the living God are powerful. The hands of the living God are strong. The hands of the living God are holy. The hands of the living God are just. The hands of the living God are terrible for those who reject His grace and despise His mercy. It is fearful. It is terrifying. It is awful. To fall into the hands of the living God in judgment is worse than anything you can imagine. It is eternal. It is unending. It is inescapable. It is hopeless.

The Lesson of Samson:

Samson was a man of great strength. He was a man of great power. He was a man of great calling. But he played with sin. He flirted with temptation. He toyed with compromise. He slept on the lap of Delilah. And he lost everything. He lost his strength. He lost his eyes. He lost his freedom. He lost his ministry. He lost his testimony. He lost his destiny. He woke up one day and the Lord had departed from him. He did not even know it. He thought he was still strong. He thought he was still anointed. He thought he was still chosen. But he was empty. He was broken. He was captive. He was defeated. Do not be like Samson. Do not play with sin. Do not flirt with temptation. Do not toy with compromise. Do not sleep on the lap of Delilah. Do not tell your secrets to the enemy. Do not presume upon the grace of God. Do not trample under foot the Son of God. Do not count the blood of the covenant as an unholy thing. Do not do despite unto the Spirit of grace. Do not fall into the hands of the living God. Repent. Turn from sin. Come back to God. Walk in holiness. Walk in obedience. Walk in faithfulness. Walk in the fear of the Lord. And you will be preserved. You will be protected. You will be anointed. You will be powerful. You will be fruitful. You will be victorious.

Question for the Day — Monday, 5th October 2026:

Are you sleeping on the lap of compromise? Are you revealing your secrets to the enemy? Are you playing with sin? Are you presuming upon the grace of God? Are you trampling under foot the Son of God? And are you aware that the Lord could depart from you without you even knowing it?
