COMMENTARY ON OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23RD, 2026

INTRODUCTION: THE GOD OF UNLIMITED RESOURCES

Over the past several days, Pastor Adeboye has been systematically unveiling the unlimited nature of God. We have seen that God cannot be hindered by opposition, cannot be limited by impossible circumstances, cannot be constrained by time, and cannot be outmaneuvered by chaotic situations. Today, in Part 5, he addresses another dimension of God’s unlimited nature that speaks directly to the financial and material concerns of believers: God cannot be hindered by resources.

The memorised scripture from Haggai 2:8 is a direct declaration from God: “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine.” Not some silver. Not a portion of gold. All of it. Every ounce. Every bar. Every coin. The entire mineral wealth of the universe belongs to Him.

This truth is foundational for faith in the area of provision. If God owns everything, then He cannot be limited by lack. He cannot be constrained by economic downturns. He cannot be restricted by inflation or recession or supply chain failures. The resources of the universe are at His disposal, and He deploys them according to His will.

PART ONE: THE EARTH IS THE LORD’S

Pastor Adeboye anchors this teaching on Psalm 24:1: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof: the world, and they that dwell therein.”

This verse establishes several profound truths:

Ownership: The earth belongs to God. Not to governments, not to corporations, not to billionaires, not to any human institution. Humans are stewards, but God is the owner.

Totality: “The fulness thereof” means everything in the earth. Every mineral, every resource, every asset, every possession ultimately belongs to Him.

Inclusivity: “They that dwell therein” means that even the people on earth belong to God. Every human being, regardless of their wealth or power, is created by Him and accountable to Him.

The comparison Pastor Adeboye draws is striking: the world’s richest man today only possesses a fraction of the earth’s resources. The combined wealth of all the billionaires on the planet is a drop in the ocean compared to the vast riches that God has placed on and in the earth. God’s resources are truly unlimited.

PART TWO: THE FEEDING OF THE FIVE THOUSAND

The first biblical illustration Pastor Adeboye uses is the familiar account of Jesus feeding the multitude in Mark 6:35-44.

The Situation:
A massive crowd had gathered to hear Jesus teach. They were in a desolate place, far from any source of food. The disciples were worried and practical: “Send them away so they can go buy food for themselves.” But Jesus had a different plan.

The Search:
Jesus instructed the disciples to see what food was available among the people. After searching, all they found was a small boy’s lunch—five loaves and two fish. From a human perspective, this was laughably inadequate. How could such a small meal feed thousands?

The Miracle:
Jesus took the little that was offered, gave thanks, and multiplied it. The small meal fed over 5,000 men, plus women and children, with twelve baskets of leftovers.

The Lesson:
Pastor Adeboye draws this conclusion: “I am sure the disciples must have thought that Jesus would laugh when they brought it to Him, but He took that little meal and multiplied it to feed over 5,000 people. When you give your little resources to the Lord, He will ensure that you have more than you need.”

The Unlimited God does not need large resources to work with. He can take the little you have and multiply it beyond your imagination. The size of your resource is not the determining factor; the presence of God upon it is.

PART THREE: THE FEEDING OF THE HUNDRED

The second biblical illustration is from 2 Kings 4:42-44, involving the prophet Elisha.

The Situation:
A man brought an offering of twenty loaves of barley bread and some fresh ears of grain. This would have been a generous gift for one man or even a small family. But Elisha was not alone; he had 100 other men with him, the sons of the prophets.

The Servant’s Concern:
When Elisha instructed his servant to set the food before the men, the servant protested: “What, shall I set this before a hundred men?” From a natural perspective, the servant was right. Twenty loaves could not reasonably feed 100 hungry men.

The Word of the Lord:
Elisha responded with a word from God: “Give the people to eat, for thus says the Lord: ‘They shall eat and have some left over.'”

The Miracle:
The men ate, and there were leftovers, just as the Lord had said.

The Lesson:
Pastor Adeboye emphasizes: “When the word of the Unlimited God comes upon the little you have, it will be more than enough.” The key is not the quantity of the resource but the word of the Lord upon it. God’s spoken word carries creative power. When He speaks over your finances, your resources multiply. When He speaks over your business, your income increases. When He speaks over your pantry, your food multiplies.

PART FOUR: THE PRINCIPLE OF THANKSGIVING

Pastor Adeboye connects the manifestation of God’s unlimited resources to the practice of thanksgiving. He writes: “One way to enjoy them is to live a life of thanksgiving. When you appreciate God for everything He has done, He will do much more.”

This is not a transactional approach—giving thanks to manipulate God into giving more. Rather, it is a relational principle. Thanksgiving:

Acknowledges God as the Source: When you give thanks, you are recognizing that every good gift comes from Him (James 1:17). This posture of gratitude positions you to receive more.

Opens the Door for More: Just as Jesus gave thanks before multiplying the loaves and fish, our thanksgiving precedes supernatural increase. Gratitude creates an atmosphere for God’s provision.

Fulfills God’s Will: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 commands us to “give thanks in all circumstances.” Thanksgiving is not optional; it is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus.

PART FIVE: THEOLOGICAL REFLECTIONS

1. God’s Ownership Is Total

When God says, “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,” He is not claiming partial ownership or a share of the profits. He is declaring absolute, total, exclusive ownership. Everything belongs to Him. This means that when we give to God, we are not giving Him something that belongs to us; we are returning to Him a portion of what He has already entrusted to us.

1. God’s Resources Are Infinite

The earth’s resources are vast, but they are finite. There is a limited amount of gold, silver, oil, and land on the planet. But God’s resources are not limited to what is on earth. He is the Creator of all things. He can speak new resources into existence. He is not constrained by supply and demand.

1. God Uses Little to Accomplish Much

Both biblical illustrations highlight God’s ability to multiply small resources. This is encouraging because most believers do not have large resources. We have little. But the Unlimited God specializes in taking little and making it much. He took five loaves and fed thousands. He took twenty loaves and fed a hundred. He can take your little and do the impossible.

1. Thanksgiving Precedes Multiplication

Notice that in both accounts, thanksgiving or blessing preceded the multiplication. Jesus gave thanks before breaking the bread. Elisha spoke the word of the Lord before the food was distributed. Thanksgiving activates the supernatural. When we bless God for what we have, He blesses what we have and multiplies it.

1. God’s Provision Often Exceeds Our Needs

Both miracles produced leftovers. Twelve baskets full after feeding five thousand. Leftovers after feeding a hundred. God does not just meet needs; He exceeds them. He is not a God of barely enough but of more than enough. His abundance overflows.

PART SIX: PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

1. Recognize God as the Source

Examine your heart: do you truly believe that everything you have comes from God? Or do you credit your job, your intelligence, your connections, or your hard work? Cultivate a mindset of dependence on God as the ultimate source of all provision.

1. Bring Your Little to Jesus

What seems insignificant to you may be exactly what God wants to use. Bring your small income, your limited savings, your modest resources to Jesus. Offer them to Him with thanksgiving, and watch what He does.

1. Give Thanks in All Circumstances

Make thanksgiving a daily habit. Not just when things are going well, but in all circumstances. Thank God for what you have, not what you lack. Thank Him for past provision, present provision, and future provision. Gratitude opens the door for more.

1. Trust the Word of the Lord

When God speaks over your resources, believe His word. If He says, “They shall eat and have some left over,” then expect leftovers. Do not limit God by your natural calculations. His word is more reliable than your reasoning.

1. Live as a Steward, Not an Owner

Since everything belongs to God, you are a steward, not an owner. Stewards manage resources on behalf of the owner. They are accountable for how they use what has been entrusted to them. Live with a stewardship mentality, and you will experience the owner’s blessing.

PART SEVEN: DECLARATIONS BASED ON THIS MESSAGE

I DECLARE that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, and I am a beneficiary of His abundant resources.

I DECLARE that silver and gold belong to God, and He supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory.

I DECLARE that the cattle on a thousand hills are His, and He feeds me from His abundant provision.

I DECLARE that my little resources, when placed in God’s hands, will be multiplied to meet every need.

I DECLARE that the word of the Lord upon my finances causes them to increase and overflow.

I DECLARE that I will give thanks in all circumstances, and my thanksgiving will open the door for supernatural provision.

I DECLARE that I will never lack because my God owns everything and delights in providing for His children.

I DECLARE that the God who fed five thousand with five loaves will feed me and my household.

I DECLARE that the God who fed a hundred with twenty loaves will supply all my needs with leftovers.

I DECLARE that I am a steward of God’s resources, and He trusts me with abundance.

PART EIGHT: PRAYER

Father, I thank You because You are the owner of everything. The silver and the gold belong to You. The cattle on a thousand hills are Yours. The earth and its fullness are Yours. Nothing I need is outside Your possession.

Lord, I bring my little resources to You today. My income, my savings, my investments, my possessions—I place them all in Your hands. Multiply them for Your glory. Let the word of the Lord come upon my finances so that they will be more than enough.

Teach me to live a life of thanksgiving. Help me to give thanks in all circumstances, not just when things are going well. Let gratitude be my lifestyle, and let it open the door for supernatural increase.

I trust You to provide for all my needs according to Your riches in glory. I will not fear lack. I will not worry about provision. I will not be anxious about resources. You are my Provider, and You never fail.

Thank You, Father, for Your unlimited resources and Your unlimited love.

CONCLUSION: PRAISE TO THE LORD, THE ALMIGHTY

The hymn accompanying this devotion, “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of Creation,” is a fitting response to the revelation of God’s unlimited resources. It calls us to praise Him for His health and salvation, His goodness and mercy, His power over the elements, and His surrounding mercy.

“Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him! All that hath life and breath come now with praises before Him!”

When we understand that God owns everything, that His resources are unlimited, and that He delights in providing for His children, our response can only be praise. We praise Him not just for what He gives, but for who He is—the Owner of all, the Provider of all, the Unlimited God.

The key point of today’s message is simple but profound: God is not limited by resources. He never has been. He never will be. The only question is whether we will trust Him enough to bring our little to Him, give thanks for what we have, and believe His word over our circumstances.

When we do, we will see the Unlimited God do what only He can do.
