BASIC SCRIPTURES LUKE 17:1-10 1st May 2025

BASIC SCRIPTURES: LUKE 17:1-10; HEBREWS 11:6

BASIC SCRIPTURES: May 1, 2025
Luke 17:1-10 (KJV)
1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Key Themes from the Scriptures

  1. Luke 17:1-10
    • Avoiding Offenses: Jesus warns against causing others, especially the vulnerable, to stumble in their faith. Our actions and words must reflect Christ’s love and righteousness.
    • Forgiveness: We are called to forgive others repeatedly, even when they sin against us multiple times, as long as they repent.
    • Faith: The apostles ask for increased faith, and Jesus teaches that even a small amount of faith (like a mustard seed) can accomplish great things.
    • Humble Service: Believers are to serve God faithfully without expecting praise, recognizing that we are merely fulfilling our duty as servants.
  2. Hebrews 11:6
    • Faith as Essential: Pleasing God requires faith—believing in His existence and trusting that He rewards those who seek Him diligently.
    • Diligence in Seeking God: God honors those who earnestly pursue Him with trust and obedience.
These scriptures call us to live with integrity, forgive generously, exercise faith, serve humbly, and seek God diligently, trusting in His rewards.

Prayers for May 1, 2025

Opening Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the gift of a new month and a new day. Thank You for Your Word in Luke 17:1-10 and Hebrews 11:6, which guides me to live righteously, forgive generously, exercise faith, and serve humbly. As I step into May 2025, fill me with Your Spirit to walk in obedience and trust in Your promises. Let my life reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Forgiveness and Reconciliation:
Lord Jesus, You taught us to forgive others, even when they sin against us repeatedly. I ask for a heart of grace to forgive those who have wronged me. Heal any bitterness or resentment in my heart, and help me to extend Your love and mercy. Where relationships are broken, grant wisdom and humility to seek reconciliation. Let my actions draw others closer to You rather than cause them to stumble. Amen.
Prayer for Increased Faith:
Father, like the apostles, I cry out, “Increase my faith!” Help me to trust You even when circumstances seem impossible. I believe that You are God, and You reward those who diligently seek You. Let my faith, even as small as a mustard seed, move mountains in my life and the lives of those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer for Humble Service:

Lord, teach me to serve You with humility, recognizing that I am Your servant called to do Your will. Remove any pride or desire for recognition from my heart. Help me to fulfill my duties faithfully, trusting that You see and reward my obedience. May my service advance Your kingdom and bless others. Amen.
