Commentary
Today, Thursday 7th May 2026, Pastor Jerry Eze opens the NSPPD altar with a powerful declaration of return, release, and rejoicing. The anchor scripture, Isaiah 51:11, paints a picture of the redeemed – those who have been bought back by the blood of the Lamb – not walking in sorrow, not crawling in shame, but returning with singing. The destination is Zion, which represents God’s presence, God’s city, and God’s rest. But the key phrase that Pastor Jerry is emphasizing today is: “Everlasting joy shall be upon their head.”
This is not ordinary happiness that depends on circumstances. This is everlasting joy – joy that outlasts problems, outlasts delays, outlasts attacks. And notice where it sits: upon the head. In biblical imagery, what is on the head represents authority, identity, and visibility. Joy is not hiding in your heart, hoping to survive. Joy is crowned upon your head for all to see. - Revelation 5:5 – The Lion of Judah has prevailed. You are not waiting for victory; you are standing in it. Every sealed book, every closed chapter, every locked destiny – the Lion has opened it.
- Revelation 19:1 – Salvation, glory, honour, and power belong to the Lord. This is a worship declaration that shifts your focus from the problem to the Problem-Solver.
- Romans 9:28 – The Lord will finish the work and cut it short. This is the prayer for suddenlies. What was meant to take years is being shortened to days, even moments.
- Galatians 5:1 – Stand fast in liberty. Do not be entangled again. Many believers have been delivered but have returned to the same chains. Today, Pastor Jerry declares: You are free. Stay free.
- John 10:10 – The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus came for abundant life. Today’s declaration reclaims everything the thief has stolen – joy, peace, health, finances, relationships.
- Isaiah 66:9 – God does not bring to the birth and then shut the womb. If God has started a pregnancy of purpose, promise, or provision in your life, He will bring it to full delivery. No stillbirth. No miscarriage of destiny.
- Galatians 6:17 – “Let no man trouble me.” This is a boundary declaration. Certain people, certain arguments, certain accusations – you are no longer available for them.
- Isaiah 62:7 – Give God no rest until He establishes you as a praise in the earth. This is holy persistence. Not passive waiting, but active, relentless prayer.
- 1 Kings 18:1 – After three years of drought, the word of the Lord came: “Go, show yourself… I will send rain.” Your season of dryness is ending. Go and position yourself for rain.
- 2 Kings 5:1 – Naaman was a great man, honorable, victorious – but he was a leper. The declaration here is: hidden leprosy (secret shame, hidden disease, private failure) is being exposed and healed today.
- Matthew 28:4 – The keepers at Jesus’ tomb shook and became as dead men. Every enemy assigned to guard your tomb – your dead situation, your buried dream – is shaking and falling.
- Jeremiah 22:29 – “O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord.” This triple address to the earth means every layer of your foundation – physical, spiritual, emotional, financial – must obey God’s command today.
The overarching theme is complete reversal: sorrow to joy, bondage to liberty, drought to rain, leprosy to cleanliness, sealed to opened, stolen to restored, birth to delivery, death to resurrection.
