Commentary
Today, Wednesday 20th May 2026, is a day of mercy – divine mercy. Pastor Jerry Eze declares that when everything else fails, mercy never fails. Your qualifications may fail. Your connections may fail. Your strength may fail. Your plans may fail. But mercy? Mercy never fails.
The anchor scripture, Hebrews 4:16, is an open invitation: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace.” Not timidly. Not hesitantly. Not fearfully. BOLDLY. Why? Because the throne is not a throne of judgment for those who come in faith – it is a throne of grace. And at that throne, you obtain two things: mercy (compassion that cancels what you deserve – punishment, failure, shame) and grace (favour that gives you what you do not deserve – help, provision, breakthrough).
Pastor Jerry emphasizes: “There’s an abundance of grace and there’s help for every situation.” No matter what you are facing – sickness, debt, marital crisis, career stagnation, family trouble, spiritual attack – there is help at the throne of grace. Your situation is not too big for mercy. Your problem is not too stubborn for grace. The throne has not run out of supply.
The nine areas of mercy declared today cover the full spectrum of human need:
- Mercy for manifestation – You have been waiting for a promise to appear. Mercy causes manifestation. What has been delayed shall be delivered.
- Mercy for your family – Your household is covered. Not just you – your children, your spouse, your parents, your siblings. Family mercy is released.
- Mercy for multiplication – Not just enough – abundance. Not just survival – thriving. Mercy multiplies what you have.
- Mercy that wipes bitter tears – The tears of disappointment, betrayal, loss, and pain. Mercy wipes them. Not ignoring the pain – healing it.
- Mercy for a new garment – A fresh covering. Perhaps you have been wearing the garment of shame, of mourning, of failure. Mercy gives you a new garment – of honour, of joy, of victory.
- Mercy to be called by a new name – Your identity changes. No longer “rejected” – called “accepted.” No longer “barren” – called “fruitful.” No longer “failure” – called “testimony.”
- Mercy for congratulations – Instead of bad news, congratulations. Instead of pity, celebration.
- Mercy for celebration – Your joy shall not be stolen. You will celebrate – fully, loudly, publicly.
- Mercy for remembrance – God shall remember you. Not because He forgot – but because your time has come. Like Hannah, like Joseph, like the thief on the cross – mercy brings remembrance.
The prophetic instructions are specific and powerful:
- Write down 7 areas you desire EL-ROI’s mercy. Seven is the number of completion and perfection. Write seven specific areas where you need mercy. Do not be vague – name them. “Mercy for my marriage.” “Mercy for my finances.” “Mercy for my health.” “Mercy for my children.” “Mercy for my career.” “Mercy for my destiny.” “Mercy for my family.” Write them. Bring them to the altar.
- Bring every negative report to the Altar of Mercy. Medical reports that say “incurable.” Financial statements that say “overdrawn.” Legal documents that say “judgment against you.” Academic results that say “fail.” Bring the negative report physically or in your spirit. Lay it on the altar. Mercy exchanges negative reports for positive testimonies.
- Don’t come alone. Mercy is not selfish. When you receive mercy, bring your family. Bring your friends. Bring everyone you know who needs mercy. Because the throne of grace has enough for all.
The closing declaration is a desperate, humble cry: “OH LORD, GOD OF WONDERS, PLEASE SHOW ME MERCY. I NEED YOU NOW.” Not “I deserve mercy” – but “I need mercy.” Not “I will earn mercy” – but “please show me mercy.” This is the posture of the heart that obtains mercy: humility, desperation, and bold faith combined.
Today, mercy is released. Your bitter tears are wiped. Your new garment is given. Your new name is spoken. Congratulations are declared. Celebration is released. Remembrance has come.
