A young man, Bill, from a wealthy family was to be given a car as his graduation gift because it was a custom in that community that parents must give their graduate children a car! Bill and his father had spent months searching, and the week just before graduation, they found the exact type of car! Bill’s hopes were high that at last he would get his car gift. On the graduation day however, instead of a car gift, Bill’s father presented him with a well-wrapped and beautifully decorated Bible gift! Bill was so angry and disappointed that he flunged the Bible away and walked out on his father. Surprisingly, he never saw his father again till his death! However, Bill had to come home when he got the news of his father’s death. As he was searching through his father’s possessions in the bedroom, he came across the Bible his father had given him still beautifully wrapped and with his name still inscribed on it! Out of reverence for the dead, he decided to open it, only to discover a bank draft for the exact amount of the car with his name and dated the day of his graduation, enclosed in the book of Ecclesiastes. He wept profusely! His father’s plan was that his son should read through the Bible before he could discover the car gift! Dear child of God, the lesson is that God wants you to be diligent with the Word (the Bible) in this year 2026! Determine to read through it at least once this year! Acts 20: 32 says, “…I commend you to God and to the word of His grace which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” Your inheritance, car, great glory, breakthroughs, good health, long life, special favour, amazing goodness/mercy, marital/family testimonies, etc, in 2026, is buried in the Word of God! If you push it outside, you are pushing your prosperity, purity and power outside! Jim Robin said, “We must all suffer from one or two pains, the pain of discipline or the pain of regrets.” Read and study the WORD as if it was your first time! Discipline yourself for the Word!
