BASIC SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 5: 10-16
Matthew 5:10-16 – New King James Version
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Believers Are Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Refer to yesterday’s devotional about the naughty boy and the Layer! The Holy Ghost wants you to know that the best testimony is not what we say to others, it’s how we live our lives. Even if they seem like they don’t care, unbelievers are always watching us. Not only should you be a role model to outsiders and other believers, but you should be a good example for your kids. A wise man once said: “Don’t tell me about God with your words. Show me about your God with your actions.” I once read this from Kevin Max: “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians: who acknowledge Jesus with their lips, walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.” Oh, from yesterday’s devotional, catch this You are called to BLESS and not to STRESS the world around you! You must never be a PAIN CREATOR for others! Hear Joel Osteen: “Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. If somebody is rude and inconsiderate, you can almost be certain that they have some unresolved issues inside. They have some major problems, anger, resentment, or some heartache they are trying to cope with or overcome. The last thing they need is for you to make matters worse by responding angrily.” Matthew 5:13-14 (KJV) says: “Ye are the salt of the earth…Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” Salt everywhere you go! That means ADD VALUE and FLAVOR wherever you go Don’t allow people confess that you are TROUBLESOME or a STRESS FACTOR wherever you go! Let your presence bring a SMILE and PEACE where there was depression or war! Shining as light Simply means BEING AN EXAMPLE! Close with St. Augustine of Hippo “A Christian should be an “Alleluia” from head to foot. “Alleluia” means “PRAISE THE LORD.” Live in such a way that wherever you go people will praise God and desire to serve Him (See Vs. 16 of today’s scripture Let your life populate heaven and depopulate hell! Pray seriously now!
