Abraham Lincoln once wrote: “I don’t know who my grandfather was, but I am more concerned to know what his grandson will be.” I also once attended a seminar with the inscription, “No children please,” boldly pasted on the glass sliding door. Great, but do you know that many years ago, a missionary, Robert Moffat, learnt the importance of not overlooking children? He advertised a big crusade but only a few people came. Although he was discouraged (like most people would), he decided to preach with all his heart but did not notice that a small boy was the one playing the organ. By the time Moffat finished, that boy had decided to become a missionary. The boy’s name was David Livingstone who grew up to become God’s great gift to Africa. He was indeed a living stone in God’s hand. Dear pastor/church worker, don’t be moved by the crowd before giving your best to God. Don’t despise children! Eli did not despise Samuel (1 Samuel 3). The busiest man ever born was Jesus; yet He had time for children (Mark 10). Dear busy daddy, please cross check what your children are doing at least once a week! Mother Teresa said: “If you want to work for world peace, go home and love your families.” Dear busy mummy, why leave your children for house helps or grannies? Why should your mother leave her husband (your father) to babysit for you? May God raise a mighty teacher, pastor, prophet/prophetess, evangelist, politician, doctor, engineer, pharmacist, academic teacher, etc, through you. Dear pastor, visit your children’s church this week. Never forget David Livingstone’s conversion and never forget that champions do not despise children because, they are investments beyond money for the future. Plant a word of God (a seed) into a child’s life. Sow the children’s ODM (The Morning Glory) into the lives of children regularly this year!
