TOPIC: – I SHALL NOT RUN IN VAIN!

This is World Cup year in the USA and other countries! During the end of every sporting activity, the game statistics are always presented on the television screen for everyone to see. It shows the performance of all the teams and how each team is rated for different activities. One of the interesting things is that in athletics, the distance covered is also rated. In other words, the total goals scored by teams are displayed! In athletics, imagine one team running a total distance of 120 kilometers, while the other team runs a total distance of 160 kilometers. The winner is not determined by the total distance covered. It’s the final winner that counts! You can run and run or play a football match, but if you don’t score a goal or if you don’t score more goals than your opponent, you are running in vain! The Amalekite in today’s scripture ran many kilometres to deliver good news to David! He must have been dreaming and fantasising on what David would give him for killing his number one enemy. He painted his story very well. Unfortunately for him however, David killed him. He ran in vain! I am reminded of the words of Peter Drucker: “There is nothing as useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.” Oh, there is something about doing the right thing at the right time! I pray that God will enrich you with wisdom to know the right race to run, the right words to speak, the right people to associate with. Be sure that you are running the right race. May your life and ministry efforts not be a waste at last like this Amalekite! Lift up your hands and cry to God today, “I shall not run in vain.” Are there issues that need agreement? Do you want fresh fire and revival in your prayer life?
