33. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

BASIC SCRIPTURE: PHILIPPIANS 4:1-7 (KJV)

1. Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

2. I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

3. And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

4. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

5. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, teach me to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness — not as an addition to my life, but as the priority of my life.

2. Lord, I refuse to be anxious about food, drink, or clothing. You know what I need. I trust You to add these things to me as I seek You first.

3. Father, deliver me from taking thought for the morrow. I will not borrow trouble from tomorrow. Today’s grace is sufficient for today’s needs.

4. Lord, help me to stand fast in You. Let me not be moved by circumstances, opinions, or fears. My feet are planted on the Rock.

5. Father, heal every division. Where there is strife between Euodias and Syntyche — between any two in my life — let there be the same mind in the Lord.

6. Lord, teach me to rejoice always — not when feelings come, not when circumstances are good, but always. And again I say, rejoice.

7. Father, let my moderation be known to all men. Let me be marked by gentleness, not by harshness or excess. The Lord is at hand.

8. Lord, I cast every care upon You. I will be careful for nothing. By prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, I make my requests known to God. And I receive Your peace.

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that I seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Everything I need shall be added to me.

2. I take no thought for tomorrow. Tomorrow belongs to God. I live in today’s grace.

3. I stand fast in the Lord. I am dearly beloved. I am His joy and crown.

4. I rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say, rejoice. My joy is not in circumstances but in Christ.

5. My moderation is known to all men. I am gentle, not anxious, not aggressive. The Lord is at hand.

Key Verse (Matthew): Matthew 6:33 — “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Key Verse (Philippians): Philippians 4:6-7 — “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The Priority of the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33):

The word “first” means first in time, first in importance, first in your daily schedule, first in your bank account, first in your relationships, first in your thoughts. Seeking the kingdom first is not about adding God to your existing priorities. It is about letting God reorder every priority. When you seek His kingdom first, everything else falls into its proper place. He adds what you need. You do not have to scramble for it.

The Problem of Tomorrow (Matthew 6:34):

Jesus does not say tomorrow will be easy. He says tomorrow will have its own trouble. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Each day has enough problems. Do not add tomorrow’s problems to today’s load. Do not borrow trouble from a day you may never see. Trust God for today. When tomorrow becomes today, He will be there too.

Stand Fast in the Lord (Philippians 4:1):

Paul calls the Philippians his joy and crown. Then he commands them to stand fast. Standing fast means not being moved by persecution, false teaching, internal conflict, or personal disappointment. Your stability is not in your circumstances. It is in the Lord. Stand fast in Him.

The Euodias and Syntyche Problem (Philippians 4:2-3):

Two women in the church at Philippi were not getting along. Paul does not take sides. He does not declare one right and one wrong. He begs them to be of the same mind in the Lord. Conflict between believers is not new. But it must be addressed. Divisions weaken the witness of the church. Paul asks a true yokefellow to help these women reconcile. Sometimes reconciliation requires a third party. Do not let disagreements fester.

Rejoice Always (Philippians 4:4):

“Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” Paul wrote this from a prison cell. He was not rejoicing in his chains. He was rejoicing in the Lord. Circumstances change. The Lord does not. Your joy is not tied to your situation. It is tied to your Saviour. And because He never changes, you can rejoice always.

Let Your Moderation Be Known (Philippians 4:5):

Moderation means gentleness, patience, reasonableness, not insisting on your own rights. This quality is to be known to all men — not just to other believers. The world should see your gentleness. And the reason for your gentleness is this: “The Lord is at hand.” He is near. He is coming. He sees. You do not need to fight for yourself.

Be Careful for Nothing (Philippians 4:6):

“Careful” here means anxious, worried, full of care. Paul says be anxious for nothing. Not for food, not for clothing, not for health, not for finances, not for the future, not for your children, not for your enemies. Nothing. Instead of anxiety, pray. In everything — not just in big things — by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Notice the thanksgiving. Anxious prayers forget to give thanks. Peaceful prayers remember what God has already done.

The Peace of God (Philippians 4:7):

The result of prayer is not always the answer you want. The result is the peace of God. This peace passes all understanding. It does not make sense to the world. How can you be at peace when everything is falling apart? Because the peace of God is not based on circumstances. It is based on the presence of God. And this peace shall keep your hearts and minds — like a garrison, like a guard, like a wall around your inner life — through Christ Jesus.
