BASIC SCRIPTURE: 1 KINGS 18: 39- 46

39. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.

40. And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

41. And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

42. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

43. And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

44. And at the seventh time he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

45. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

46. And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, let the fire of the LORD fall in my life today. Let every doubt be silenced and every idol be consumed. Let me declare with all my heart: “The LORD, He is the God.”

2. Lord, give me the boldness of Elijah to confront every false prophet in my life. Let not one escape. Let every lying voice be silenced and destroyed.

3. Father, when the fire falls, let me also hear the sound of abundance of rain. Let me not be satisfied with fire alone — let the rain of revival and refreshing follow.

4. Lord, teach me to go to the top of Carmel — the place of prayer and surrender — when others are eating and drinking. Let me travail until the rain comes.

5. Father, when the servant says “There is nothing,” let me send him again and again. Give me the perseverance to pray seven times until I see the cloud.

6. Lord, open my eyes to see the little cloud like a man’s hand. Let me not despise the day of small beginnings. The great rain starts with a little cloud.

7. Father, let the heaven over my life be black with clouds and wind. Send the great rain of Your blessing, Your Spirit, and Your breakthrough.

8. Lord, let the hand of the LORD be upon me. Let me gird up my loins and run — outrunning every chariot, reaching my Jezreel ahead of schedule.

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that the fire of the LORD has fallen. The LORD, He is the God. Every idol is consumed, and every doubt is silenced.

2. Every false prophet in my life is taken and slain. No lying voice shall escape. I serve the living God alone.

3. I hear the sound of abundance of rain. My drought is over. My harvest is here. Revival is coming.

4. I go to the top of Carmel. I cast myself down. I put my face between my knees. I will not rise until the rain comes.

5. I refuse to be discouraged by the report of “nothing.” I will go again seven times. My perseverance shall see the cloud.

6. I see the little cloud like a man’s hand. I do not despise small beginnings. The great rain is coming.

7. The heaven over my life is black with clouds and wind. The great rain is falling. Every dry place is being watered.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION

Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:41 — “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.”

The Fire and the Rain:

This passage contains two great manifestations of God’s power — first fire, then rain. The fire proved that God was real and that Baal was nothing. The rain proved that God was merciful and that the drought was over. You cannot have the latter rain without the former fire. First, God burns away the false. Then, He sends the fresh.

The Fire Falls (Verses 39-40):

When the fire of the Lord fell, all the people fell on their faces and confessed, “The LORD, he is the God.” The fire consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the dust, and the water. It was a complete work. It left no doubt. And Elijah commanded that the prophets of Baal be taken and slain. The false prophets were destroyed. The false gods were exposed. The fire of God brings both conviction and cleansing.

The Sound of Abundance of Rain (Verse 41):

Elijah declared the rain before it came. He heard it with his spiritual ears. He heard the sound of abundance. He did not wait to see the clouds. He declared it in faith. He spoke it into existence. He told Ahab to eat and drink. The king of Israel was to celebrate while the prophet travailed. Elijah went to the top of Carmel, while Ahab went to eat. One travailed while the other feasted. The one who travailed brought the rain.

The Seven Times (Verses 42-44):

Elijah prayed for rain. He sent his servant seven times. Six times the report was “nothing.” The seventh time brought the little cloud. Elijah did not give up after the first failure. He did not give up after the sixth. He kept praying. He kept believing. He kept sending. Your breakthrough may be one more prayer away. Do not stop after six times. Go again. Pray again. Trust again.

The Little Cloud (Verse 44):

The cloud was the size of a man’s hand — small, almost insignificant. But Elijah recognized it immediately. He did not wait for the sky to turn black. He saw the small sign and acted. He told Ahab to prepare his chariot and get down. He knew that the rain was coming. He knew that it would stop him if he did not move. Do not despise small beginnings. The great rain starts with a little cloud. Your breakthrough starts with a small sign. Recognize it. Act on it.

The Great Rain (Verse 45):

In a short time, the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. What started as a little cloud became a downpour. Your small beginning will become a great harvest. Your little cloud will become a flood of blessing. God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all you ask or think.

The Hand of the Lord (Verse 46):

The hand of the LORD was on Elijah, and he ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. The same Elijah who was weak and weary after the long drought was now running faster than a chariot. When the hand of the Lord comes upon you, supernatural strength follows. You will outrun your enemies. You will arrive ahead of schedule. You will do what seems impossible.

Have you heard the sound of abundance of rain? Are you still praying when the report is “nothing”? Will you go again seven times until you see the cloud? And when the little cloud comes, will you recognize it and run?
