And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

ADDITIONAL REFLECTION
Key Verse (1 Corinthians): 1 Corinthians 2:9 — “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
Key Verse (Revelation): Revelation 21:23 — “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
Things Prepared for Those Who Love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9):
Paul quotes from Isaiah 64:4. He speaks of things that are beyond human imagination. Eye has not seen them. Ear has not heard them. The heart of man has not conceived them. They are too great. They are too wonderful. They are too glorious. But they are prepared for those who love God. Not for those who just believe in Him. Not for those who just fear Him. For those who love Him. Love is the key. Love unlocks the treasure. Love receives the inheritance.
No Temple (Revelation 21:22):
In the new Jerusalem, there is no temple. In the Old Testament, the temple was the place where God dwelled. In the Old Covenant, the temple was the place of sacrifice. In the Old Covenant, the temple was the place of worship. But in the new Jerusalem, there is no temple. Why? Because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple. There is no need for a building. There is no need for a mediator. There is no need for a separate holy place. God is present. The Lamb is present. They are the temple. You dwell in them. They dwell in you. Worship is direct. Presence is constant. Access is unlimited.
No Need of Sun or Moon (Revelation 21:23):
The city has no need of the sun or moon. They are not needed. The glory of God gives light. The Lamb is the light. In this world, we need natural light. We need the sun to see. We need the moon to see at night. But in the new Jerusalem, there is no night. There is no darkness. The glory of God illuminates everything. The Lamb is the light. He is the source of all light. He is the source of all life. And we walk in His light forever.
The Nations Walk in the Light (Revelation 21:24):
The nations of those who are saved walk in the light. There are no unsaved nations in the new Jerusalem. Only the saved. Only the redeemed. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. They walk in the light. They live in the light. They are guided by the light. And the kings of the earth bring their glory and honour into it. All the best of human achievement is brought into the city and laid at the feet of the King.
The Gates Are Never Shut (Revelation 21:25):
The gates of the city are never shut. There is no night there. There is no danger. There is no need to close the gates. They are always open. The welcome is always extended. The invitation is always given. The doors are always open to those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Nothing That Defiles (Revelation 21:27):
Nothing defiled enters the city. Nothing abominable. Nothing false. The city is pure. The city is holy. The city is true. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life enter. Your name is written. Your place is secure. You are welcome. You are His.
The Book of Life:
The ultimate security is the Lamb’s book of life. Your name is written there. Not because of your works. Not because of your righteousness. Because of the Lamb. Because He died. Because He rose. Because He redeemed you. Your name is written. Your place is secure. Your future is certain.
Question for the Day:
Do you love Him? Are you looking forward to the things He has prepared for you? And is your name written in the Lamb’s book of life?
