12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
The Divine Command: Go and Tell
When the Almighty God set the madman of Gadara free in today’s Bible reading, He gave him a surprising command. The man, overwhelmed with gratitude, wanted to follow Jesus. He wanted to stay with the One who had delivered him from a legion of demons. But Jesus said something unexpected: “Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee” (Mark 5:19).
The man obeyed. He departed and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him. And the result was that “all men did marvel” (Mark 5:20).
This is not an isolated instruction. Throughout Scripture, God commands His people to testify. David declared, “I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation” (Psalm 40:10). The Samaritan woman at the well ran to tell her entire city about Jesus (John 4:29). The apostles could not stop speaking about what they had seen and heard (Acts 4:20).
Testimony is not optional. It is not reserved for special occasions. It is the natural overflow of an encounter with the living God.
The Secret That Unlocks More Miracles
One of the things God told Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was that the more His people testify, the more miracles they will receive from Him.
This is a divine principle. Testifying is not just about giving God glory — though that is reason enough. It is also a spiritual trigger that opens the door for more of His power in your life.
Think about it: when you are thankful for what God has done, He trusts you with more. When you publicly acknowledge His faithfulness, He is honoured to show Himself faithful again. When you refuse to hide His goodness, He pours out fresh goodness upon you.
The madman of Gadara did not know that his testimony would be recorded in Scripture for thousands of years to read. He just told his friends what Jesus had done. But that simple obedience became part of the eternal Word of God. Your testimony may not be written in a book, but it will be written in the lives of those who hear it and come to faith because of it.
The Danger of Silence
The apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4: “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
When we hide the good news of what God has done, we are not being humble. We are not being modest. We are cooperating with the enemy’s plan to keep people in darkness. The devil has already blinded the minds of unbelievers. Our silence allows that blindness to remain. Our testimony is one of the primary tools God uses to open blind eyes.
Consider this: people who serve other gods are not shy. They openly share what they believe they have received from their sources. They invite others to join them. They are bold about their allegiance, even when what they offer is false and temporary.
How much more should we be bold about the living God, who offers eternal salvation, genuine deliverance, and abundant life? If we hide what God has done, we are essentially telling the world that His goodness is not worth sharing. That is a lie from the pit of hell.
The Samaritan Woman: A Model of Urgent Testimony
The devotional gives us the powerful example of the Samaritan woman in John 4. She met Jesus at the well, and He revealed her entire life story to her — including the painful fact that she had five husbands and was now living with a man who was not her husband.
Most people would have been ashamed. Most would have wanted to hide. But this woman did something extraordinary: she ran back to the city and told everyone, “Come, see a man which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:29).

3. It Confronts Unbelief. The enemy wants people to believe that God does not answer prayers, that He does not heal, that He does not deliver, that He does not provide. Your testimony is living proof that He does. It shatters the lies of the enemy with the reality of God’s power.
4. It Opens the Door for More Miracles. As Daddy Adeboye learned from God, testimony triggers more miracles. When you are thankful for what God has done, He trusts you with more. When you steward your testimony well, He pours out fresh goodness.
5. It Spreads the Gospel. The primary purpose of testimony is not self-glorification. It is the salvation of souls. When people hear what God has done, they are drawn to the God who did it. Your story can lead someone to Christ.
How to Testify Effectively: Practical Steps
You do not need a big pulpit to share what God has done. Here are practical ways to obey this instruction:
1. Tell Your Friends and Family. Start with the people closest to you. Let them know what God has done in your life — healing, provision, deliverance, peace, guidance, or salvation. You do not need to be dramatic. Just be honest and grateful.
2. Share at Work. When colleagues ask how your weekend was or how you are doing, use it as an opportunity to mention God’s goodness. You do not have to preach a sermon. A simple statement like “God really came through for me this week” can plant a seed.
3. Use This Easter Season. The devotional specifically mentions Easter as a perfect time to share. People are more open during this season. Invite someone to church. Tell them why Jesus matters to you. Share the good news of the resurrection.

Father, forgive me for the times I have kept silent about Your goodness. Forgive me for the testimonies I have hidden, the miracles I have failed to declare, and the opportunities I have missed to share what You have done. Give me boldness. Remove every fear of man. Open doors for me to testify to my friends, my family, my colleagues, and even strangers. Use my story to draw others to You. And as I testify, Lord, release more miracles into my life. Let my testimony trigger a chain reaction of Your power. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
